It was Walt Disney’s own fondness of a Missouri barbershop led to the creation of the Harmony Barber Shop in the Magic Kingdom. Located just past City Hall on the corner of Main Street, U.S.A., First Haircuts are the establishment’s specialty. Children who receive their first haircut are treated to surprises, including bubbles, Mickey Mouse stickers, an extra-special “My 1st Haircut” set of Mouse Ears, special “pixie dust” and a certificate to commemorate the occasion. In addition to haircuts, the shop also offers beard and “moustache” trims. Look for the candy cane stripped barber pole out front. You may even be treated to a song by the Dapper Dans, Disney’s crooning barbershop quartet!

MouseForLess Tips:
- Have your camera ready! Haircuts at the Harmony Barber Shop make great photos for your scrapbook or memory book, especially “Baby’s First Haircut”. The barber will even give you a snippet of baby’s hair wrapped in tissue to take with you.
- Be sure to arrive with clean hair. No shampoo bowls are available.
- Take a look around. There’s a lot to see! For example, notice the pot-bellied stove, antique cash register, and “Who’s Next” board where you’ll find the names of some pretty impressive characters.
- Adults, be adventurous! Try some blue hair gel. This is Disney World after all!
- Alternatively, girls may be interested in a more exotic hair treatment while visiting Walt Disney World. Hair wrap stands are located poolside at Wilderness Lodge, Beach Club, Grand Floridian, Caribbean Beach and Port Orleans, as well as on the Boardwalk, at Disney Springs and at Animal Kingdom park. Cost is $2.00 per inch of wrap, plus the cost of beads and tip. The typical cost for a shoulder-length hair wrap is about $25. These stands generally operate between 11 a.m to 5.p.m.
