No matter how much planning and preparing goes into a Walt Disney World trip, sometimes something spontaneous still provides a lot of fun. Today, we happened to stumble upon an Epcot Easter Egg hunt, and this turned out to be a fun little addition to our tour of World Showcase.
The Epcot Egg-stravagenza was held from April 10-April 20 this year. Guests purchase a map and stickers at either Heritage Manor (America Pavilion), Disney Traders, International Gateway, Pin Central or Port of Entry. The cost of the map and stickers is $4.95 plus tax. Once you purchase a map, just continue on your World Showcase tour. In each country’s pavilion, you will find a Disney-themed Easter egg hidden somewhere around the pavilion.
When you find the egg, select the corresponding character sticker and place it on the map. Although the eggs are hidden, you really shouldn’t have too much trouble locating them if you look around. Just make sure you look high and low. Many of them aren’t at ground level, which helps if there are crowds around.
We took some photos of the eggs in each location. Once your have found them all, you can return to one of the locations to collect your prize – a choice of eggs to take home.
Guests can play as many times as they wish, so you can collect all of the prizes if you are willing to purchase a new map each time. There aren’t any discounts for buying multiple maps. It’s a bit of an investment for six egg prizes, but it’s a fun souvenir if you are a collector of those sorts of things.
We were able to select from prizes that looked like Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Chip or Dale. Plus the completed map is yours to keep. This makes a great little souvenir, and would probably look amazing in a scrapbook for all of you scrappers out there.
This certainly isn’t something to build a trip around, but it’s definitely something to enhance your Easter trip. Even more fun is that this is an annual event, so if you missed it this year, you can always try again next year. A similar hunt is held at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure annually. If you are going to try to participate on the west coast, be aware that maps sold out early this year, so you may want to get in on the fun as soon as it is announced. Happy Easter!
