If you are like me, you love Disney ornaments. Whether it is routinely checking out the Disney Store website for new additions or never missing a visit to one of the year round Christmas stores in Disney Springs, the Magic Kingdom, or Disney’s Hollywood Studios, ornaments are a way to show our affinity for Disney, and also make a great keepsake that will continually remind you and your family of great trips in the past.
For me, another great and exciting source for Disney ornaments is Hallmark, and early in July every year they have a big release of their collection for the year. Since we are now closer to next Christmas than we are from last Christmas, it seemed like a great time to preview the Disney (and Disney adjacent) ornaments available from Hallmark this year.
As Walt himself said , it all began with a Mouse, so what better place to start – this year there are several Mickey Mouse and friends ornaments worth checking out.
This is called “Touchdown Mickey 1932 Football Ornament” and really captures the essence of early Mickey.
For fans of both Mickey and trains, you are covered there as well.
One of the larger ornaments this year pays tribute to the classic short “The Art of Skiing” and even moves and plays the yodel song from the short.
If you or anyone you know is getting married this year, this ornament (“’I Do’ Times Two”) is one of my favorite Mickey and Minnie ornaments ever. Although, one of the ones that I enjoy a little more happens to be the two of them enjoying the Mad Tea Party.
Minnie also gets her own ornament this year, stocking up on her trademark yellow shoes.
Disney Princess and Fairies fans are also in luck, with great editions featuring:
Anna and Elsa building Olaf (complete with “Do You Want To Build A Snowman,”
Belle and the Beast musically celebrating the 25th Anniversary of “Beauty and the Beast,”
Belle herself stylized for Precious Moments and reading a book,
Rapunzel and Maximus sharing a special moment,
Cinderella wishing with her heart,
Ariel enjoying life “Under the Sea,”
And two different looks for Tinkerbell.
Disney Junior is also well represented with Doc McStuffins, Jake, and Sofia.
Some of my favorites this year come from the the rest of the Disney/Pixar collection of characters.
You have a sweet moment celebrating Dumbo’s 75th Anniversary,
Joy and Sadness contemplating life,
Dory (complete with sound from “Finding Dory”),
(note, there seems to also be a Hank and Dory ornament, but my store did not have it yet)
Buzz blending in with your tree,
Mater looking for holiday love,
And a fantastic trio of Winnie the Pooh ornaments, including a 50th Anniversary ornament complete with music and movement, an adorable mobile to celebrate a Baby’s First Christmas, and, to my wife’s great joy, a super cute solo Eeyore.
As the Disney family has grown, so too have the opportunities for Disney related ornaments, including:
Dr. Finkelstein from The Nightmare Before Christmas,
Iron Man and Captain America,
And for the true completionists, the Xenomorph from Alien (see also, The Great Movie Ride).
However, for every fan of Walt Disney World, there is one ornament this year that should be on your list – Cinderella’s Castle with “magic” fireworks and a soundtrack of “When you Wish Upon a Star.”
I hope one or more of these speaks to you, gives you a smile, or gets you excited for that next trip or that next holiday season. We’ll be looking for you to share your best Hallmark ornaments with us on Facebook.

Hallmark certainly makes some cute ornaments, we have a store up north that yearly has a big sale around April to clean out the last years ornaments, well some of them, so it’s a great time to shop then as well. Choosing is always the hardest part!
