Disney Resort Fun Runs are Fun for All

Not going to be at the World for a runDisney race but still want to get in the fun? Want to get the whole family involved in running (or walking)? The Walt Disney World Resorts have a set of new events for you; the Disney Resort Fun Runs.

Disney Resort Fun Runs are resort activities that are a delightful ways to see a resort and contain more than a little Disney Magic. They average about 1.86 miles or 3K depending on the resort trails. Disney Resort Fun Runs are good for beginners, kids, families or an experienced runner looking for a warm up before a day at the parks. Plus, they come with a little bit of swag. Everyone loves runner’s swag.

The most difficult thing about the runs are finding out about them. They are relatively new to Disney and not on the website. Guest Relations tends not to know about them (they tried to send me to the runDisney site – there’s no information there). The best source of information is the resort. But don’t worry, the key facts are here in this very blog.

Disney Resort Fun Runs are run most weeks but it is likely that they will not run during runDisney events. You do not have to be a registered guest to run. Registration can be done in a day or two advance at the resort (usually at the community center) or 30 to 60 minutes in advance near the starting line. The cost is $15 per runner (kids under 3 are free).

Current Disney Resort Fun Runs:

• All-Stars and Icons Fun Run at All-Star Movies (Every other Tuesday 8AM)
• The Southernmost Point 3K at Old Key West (Wednesday 7:30 AM)
• The Derby Dash at Saratoga Springs Resort (Thursday 8AM)
• The Regatta Run at Yacht/Beach Club (Thursday 8AM)
• Seaside Sprint Fun Run at Disney’s Boardwalk Resort (Friday 8AM)
• The Beignet Dash at Port Orleans French Quarter (Sunday 8AM)
• Fort Wilderness: seasonal options
• The Pineapple Dash at the Polynesian Village Resort (holidays only)

All Star Resorts, All-Stars & Icons Fun Run

• Day, Time: Every other Tuesday 8AM
• Preregistration: Surf Board Bay Pool at All Star Sports Resort daily from 3PM-6PM
• Day-of registration: Begins at 7:30 a.m. at The Reel Spot at All Star Movies
• Starting location: Outside of The Reel Spot at All Star Movies
• Distance: 1.2 miles
• Cost: $15 pp, free for children under 3
• Swag: You get a bag of goodies at the end that includes an awesome custom pin with spinning football, water, a banana, and a granola bar

The Southernmost Point 3K: Old Key West Fun Run

• Day, Time: Wednesdays at 7:30 AM
• Preregistration: Cast Members at the Community Hall
• Day-of registration: Begins at 7:00 AM
• Starting location: at the Family Tree near the playground by the Sandcastle Pool at Old Key West
• Distance: 1.4 miles
• Cost: $15 pp, free for children under 3
• Swag: Medal and a water bottle

• Day, Time: Wednesdays at 7:30 AM
• Preregistration: Cast Members at the Community Hall
• Day-of registration: Begins at 7:00 AM

Saratoga Springs, Derby Dash

• Day, Time: Thursdays at 8:00 AM

• Day-of registration: 7:30 a.m. at Saratoga Springs’ Community Hall
• Starting location: outside Community Hall (on the parking lot side)
• Distance: 1.86 miles (3k)
• Cost: $15 pp, free for children under 3
• Swag: Race bib, water, snacks and a Medal

Thursday: Yacht & Beach Club, Regatta Run

• Day, Time: Thursdays at 8:00 AM
• Preregistration: Contact 407-721-5304 for more information
• Day-of registration: 7:30 a.m. at Bayside Marina outside Yacht Club
• Starting location: Bayside Marina outside Yacht Club
• Distance: 1.86 miles (3k)
• Cost: $15 pp, free for children under 3
• Swag: Pin, Sunglasses, Custom Earbuds for Adults, Rubber Duckie and Hershey Kisses for Kids and/or exclusive pin

Friday: Boardwalk Resort, Seaside Sprint

• Day, Time: Fridays at 8:00 AM

• Preregistration: Community Hall at Disney’s Boardwalk Resort
• Day-of registration: 7:30 a.m. Between Jellyrolls and Atlantic Dance Hall

• Starting location: Between Jellyrolls and Atlantic Dance Hall
• Distance: 1.4 miles
• Cost: $15 pp, free for children under 3
• Swag: Exclusive Pin plus a coupon (on the bib) for a Goofy Glacier

Port Orleans French Quarter, Beignet Dash

• Day, Time: Sundays at 8:00 AM

• Preregistration: Unknown
• Day-of registration: 7:30 a.m. between building 5 and the Doubloon Lagoon Pool, at the corner of Carriage Path and Reveler’s Row

• Starting location: Between building 5 and the Doubloon Lagoon Pool (same location as registration)
• Distance: 1.5 miles
• Cost: $15 pp, free for children under 3
• Swag: Race Bib, Mardi Gras bead finisher medal and coupon for 3 free beignets at Sassagoula Floatworks

Wilderness Lodge, Seasonal

• Last known run day, Time: July 3 7:30 AM

• Preregistration: Fort Wilderness Bike Barn 9AM to 5 PM the week before the event
• Day-of registration: 7 AM

• Starting location: field next to Mickey’s Backyard BBQ
• Distance: 3-5K
• Cost: TBD
• Past Race Swag: Fort Wilderness Keychain & water

Polynesian, Pineapple Dash, Seasonal

• Last known run day, Time: July 4 8:30 AM (look for it on future holidays)

• Preregistration: Unknown
• Day-of registration: 8 AM

• Starting location: Unknown
• Distance: 3-5K
• Cost: TBD
• Past Race Swag: bib, finish line lei, and complimentary Dole Whip
