Disney Movie Insiders is a great way to feed your love of Disney while you’re at home. If you enjoy going to see new Disney releases in the theaters and buy the Blu-Rays or DVDs to add to your collection at home, you really should be a Disney Movie Insider.
Why? It’s the place “where fans become insiders” for sneak peeks, rewards, and more.
Formerly known as Disney Movie Rewards, Disney Movie Insiders allows fans to earn points for the movies they watch at home and in the theater.
What’s the same?
Ever buy a Disney DVD and see an insert with a code on it? That’s your ticket to points that you can redeem for lots of cool things including gift cards, coupons, Disney experiences, and more.
The basic premise of the site remains the same. Watch movies, buy movies, and earn points. It’s free to join, and you redeem points earned for rewards. You can also link to other existing accounts, such as a Disney Movie Club or Fandango account, to earn additional points.
For me, the site is a fun way to save up points for Disney gift cards to spend at Walt Disney World. I actually had about $30 worth of gift cards to spend on my trip this past August. It may not seem like much, but it’s enough to buy a souvenir!
What’s different?
With a new site and a new name, a lot of things have changed compared to Disney Movie Rewards. Previously, the site offered a wider variety of rewards including DVDs. There have been complaints on Disney Movie Insiders’ social media pages about the smaller selection of rewards.
With the new site, you need to accumulate or redeem points at least once within a one-year period or your points expire. Along with entering movie codes and redeeming tickets, Disney also provides other opportunities to earn points.
Insider tip – make sure you follow Disney Movie Insiders on social media. Throughout the year, they will announce special codes you can redeem. Often, these codes are only good for a day. Typically, they come around holiday times. I’ve earned these extra bonus points around Halloween, Christmas, and Easter.
The new redemption page isn’t quite as user friendly as the old one, but it’s possible that changes may be on the way to make it easier to organize. On the old site, you could browse rewards by point ranges or by reward type.
The bad
Right now, the reward pickings are slim. In the past there were movies, toys, collectibles, and much more available. And there were actual gift cards they would mail to you. Now, the majority of rewards available are Disney e-gift cards, and they cost more points than they used to. Before, a $5 gift card cost 550 points and a $10 gift card cost 1,100 points.
Now, while there are a few $5 gift cards available for 500 points, most of the gift cards cost 575 points and some cost 600 points.
In addition to the changes in rewards, there have been glitches with the changeover. It started right from day one – September 26 – when the new site was supposed to go live. However, there were delays, and the site didn’t actually go live until October 2. Since then, some users are reporting lost points or the inability to log into the new site.
The good
On the upside, Disney added a lot more gift card values to the reward offerings. You can now redeem points for gift cards totaling $5, $10, $25, $50, or even $100 on the new site.
The new Disney Movie Insiders app offers some nice new features. You can instantly scan movie tickets to earn reward points. You can also take a photo of your ticket and upload it through the app or the website.
This is slightly different from the previous system. Under that system, you entered some information in advance including what movie you saw and how many tickets you had. Then you would receive a code to write on all of the tickets before snapping a picture and uploading it. This new system does away with the code.
Glitches and changes aside, the site remains a fun way to earn rewards for Disney things you already do.

I just purchased the new Aladdin, Toy Sotry 4, and Sleeping Beauty and every time I try to enter the movie code to earn points, it says they aren’t valid.
Can you not earn points from digital movie purchases anymore?
It’ terrible .Just bought three brand new Blu-rays and getting invalid code errors. What?
The reward items are awful. If I would have known I would have used them before the change over.
So annoyed about this. I had been saving up my rewards to buy movies for my kid and now I can’t get them anymore? Like many others, if I had known about these changes in advance I would have used up all my points ahead of time. Not happy.
I only redeem DVDs/Blu-Rays. Without being able to redeem those this sight is worthless to me. You really dropped the ball on this one Disney.
Extremely disappointing. My daughter, who is disabled, collected thousands of points in the Disney Movie Rewards program. Now, when we log into Disney Movie Insiders, they’re all gone. We had no idea that we had to log in prior to a specify date in order to transfer the points.
I’m going to be patient. I got sleeping beauty today and It let me redeem the code just not sure how it works with the points and I don’t want a gift card! Unless I can use the gift card to buy a movie?
Not loving the new system at all. I’ve been saving my points to get some good DVDs for my collection and now they are gone. If I’d have known this I would have redeemed them before the horrible switch! Bummer out!
The new Disney Insiders Rewards is terrible. if I had known these changes were coming I would have redeemed my points. The choices for rewards is slim to none. Under the old program I redeemed my points for some great figurines. Boo to Disney. I also had difficulty entering codes. Got invalid notes.
I’m not liking that I cannot redeem a movie. That’s the only reason I used this site. Will it be coming back to where I can??
Very disappointed over the reward selection. No longer feel the need to buy the movies anymore or keep track of tickets
There don’t appear to be any eGift Cards available anymore. This is terrible! Like other people noted, I wish I had redeemed before the switch.
I have Fandango and Regal Crown Club linked to my Disney Insiders account so I don’t have to manually upload tickets for points. However, since the changeover, these sites seem to no longer be linked. They SAY they are BUT I am not getting ticket transactions for Disney movies acknowledged by the Disney site and therefore the points are not getting posted. The transaction history on Fandango shows that I am purchasing Disney movie tickets AND it says that Disney Movie Rewards points will be awarded after the showtime but nothing happens on the new Disney Insiders site once I have seen the movie. I have had my account linked for years with no problems but the new site really sucks!
I have 2-3 Blu-Rays that come up error.
Very disappointed in the changes. I’ve enjoyed buying Disney products and banking points to get cool stuff. Now that’s all gone. Who’s running Disney? It’s almost like they are trying to lose their loyal customers. Really sad.
Hate the new site, I use the points for DVDs, toys and collectibles but now I have nothing to redeem for. Wish I would have used my points before this all switched over. My points transferred over fine and the last code I entered worked but without anything to use the points on there’s no point.
I saved up many points to buy Disney Blu-Ray and DVD movies and now where are they? As a long time Disney fan I am extremely upset about this change for the worse in the Disney Rewards Program.
I cant log in after inputting my birthdate.
Is there a place that we can see our previous history? I am not sure that I entered all of my codes or do I have to just re-enter all of them to see?
how long until i can buy movies with my points
Just another instance of a large company acting like they have all these new, exciting changes when really they are giving the consumer less and less. Their mydisneyexperience site is garbage so at least they are staying consistent with this new site.
Can I still watch my Disney Movies through this site? There used to be a play button when I connected before.
Mid-November and Disney Insiders remains a major bust. Biggest problem is the SEVERE lack of rewards options … Disney long touted its rewards program as a unique bonus for buying its movies (and it was!), but now seems content to just shrug its shoulders and leave long-time customers in the lurch. It’s a really bad move … like others, I’m much less-inclined to buy anything Disney going forward (and, like others, wish I had used my points while there was still stuff worth spending them on).
Wow. I have 2000 something points and its just worthless junk on there now for redemption. Didnt even know they were switching over, certainly had no idea my points would become worthless. Why do they think we collect points?- for little gift cards to buy disney stuffed animals? Come on disney- wake up! Bring the movies back please.
I received an email to get my free points for the month, followed the link to the site and when it came up in my Chrome browser, there was no login feature… nothing saying I was already logged in, just the site asking me to Join. I clicked the Join link and it took me to a page with a picture of the stuff you get for joining, but no actual way to join. Looked for help on how to login and it says click the Sign In button on the top left… there is no Sign In option in the top left in my Chrome Browser… just the blue header. I open Internet Explorer, same thing, no sign in and no graphics at all. Finally I try FireFox, and Finally there is a Sign-In option. I have to copy and paste the link from the email to Firefox to get my 5 points, and I finally see my account. Tried to link Fandango and get an error box that doesn’t say what the error is. Rewards suck. This is a huge disappointment. If I have to open Firefox every time I want to browse the site, that sucks, and I don’t want to download the app. Get it together Disney. Extremely disappointed in them for a while now.
I had planned to use my rewards points free movies for grandchildren as Christmas gifts. I’ve only worked 4 or 5 weeks this year due to 3 surgeries. My husband is a quadriplegic incomplete. I’m glad I got one free movie with all my points I’ve saved ( 8250 ). I was saving for when I needed them (NOW). Thanks. No warning because we might get something for our points. Really says a lot about this company. You’re supposed to be Disney, not the Grinch. You don’t care. To many bills. Now no Christmas gifts. The adults don’t care but, I do. Christmas is for kids. Total disappointment. They live out of state and we can’t travel even if we could afford it. Now we can’t even send a movie. Merry Christmas Disney I hope you enjoy it because a lot of children won’t.
I liked the Old Disney rewards site not this one. They should NOT have changed it. I am a person who saves my points now i you have one year to spend what you save that year if not they take them back. Yea no. I can’t buy disnwy movies or go see movies all the time. I’m not happy with the new version & never will be. I was happy that I can enjoy Disney movies from using points. It was a awesome deal but now I feel like what is the point to keep using it.
I was finally able to log in to the Movie Insiders. I had points transferred from old site, but I thought I had more than what was transferred. I checked my point history, but point history did not transfer over. I am super disappointed in the rewards. When I hit redeem, all that popped up was four rewards: Gold Private Tour, $10 movie tickets on Atom, Charity to Children’s Hospital and $5 Fandango Concession Ticket. I have browsed the whole website trying to see if there were more rewards, but the site is difficult to navigate. I really dislike the changes. I am so disappointed.
What the heck? Nothing worth spending points on at all! Who’s idea was this new site? It is terrible. I am doing a dance that I spent almost all my points before this went down. I am so disappointed in Disney’s lack of attention to detail. I will get my last DVD and get out.
Like so many others, I hate the new sight. I only redeem my points for DVDs and Blurays and now there are none on the site for rewards. I also have been getting the error message trying to input codes. The site is completely useless. They messed up Star Wars, messed Up Galaxy’s Edge and now they have messed up the movie rewards program. I really don’t know why I even bother with Disney anymore. Extremely Disappointed.
Disney you mess up saving point for movie not gift cards bring back old disneymovierewards this one suck nothing go to get with point worthless
I’m pretty underwhelmed with Disney Insiders. I really hope they do something more robust with the rewards. Most of them are useless.
Disney stated that they will bring back DVDs to redeem your points for. they also stated it may be up to a year before this happens. When Disney launched movie rewards the DVDs were exclusive releases. Great titles that Walt felt should be made like ”Johnny Shiloh”, ”Ten who dared”,”Tonka” ect, ect, so many that were on VHS for a limited time and DVD even more limited. Once stock of these great Disney movie reward exclusives ran out they were replaced with overstock common titles. warehouses of common titles. The movie rewards lost its vision on releasing great exclusive titles. So lets see if this new updated MOVIE insiders steps up and gives us a good selection of DVDs in the near future…….
The new rewards suck now!! Not Worth It Anymore!!
Can someone please tell me how to log in? When I pull up the site, there is very little there. Just 5 buttons. Earn, redeem, watch, home and get tickets. None of them take me anywhere but to the same screen. No login area or anything else.
This site is worthless. Usually you go a step in the right direction instead of the opposite when making a change. Clearly, whichever boardroom members did not have the true meaning of Disney in their hearts, but I’m sure their laughing all the way to the bank. It’s just frustrating, the rewards we’re so much better previously, now there is not one reward I am interested in saving up for to redeem, therefore worthless site to me like so many other reviews I can tell they feel the same way. Do the right thing and make another change. Honor Walt, not have him rollover in his grave the way family’s of children are now being belittled with a lack of caring for the imaginative spirit in all of us.
I agree with other commenters, this new rewards program is terrible. If you dont want to give rewards fine, cancel the program. You shouldn’t change it into something where there is nothing worthwhile to redeem for and points expiring is just pure greed. Fix it or do away with it, quit insulting your fans.
its all about the dollar anymore, I gave up my charter d23 membership and now I am ready to give up on Movie Insiders, just no sense anymore. Walt started the park for kids and familys to enjoy, now you have to be “well off” to take kids there anymore or save for years. Now it had rolled over to the easiest of sites like Movie rewards. I used to use my points to buy a Christmas Ornament but thats over as well. I agree with everyone else Disney is messing up big time. Id rather go to Universal studios now.
I am so disappointed with this change! I have been a member of this club and the Disney movie club for years, before if I purchase (depending on the title) 8 or so movies I could get a free Disney movie with my points, now they expire and i can get discounts…please revert back to the old rewards, now entering the code seems like more trouble than it is worth.
I only ever used the points to buy a new movie! My daughter loved looking through and picking out a new movie. Not happy with the change.
Patience people. I used my points to send those kicka** star wars customized snowflake mugs (incredible artwork) to some of my friends. Everybody super stoked with them. Can’t wait to see what rewards they come up with next. Keep up the good work insiders.
I just read all of the comments and out of the entire list of comments, there was only one that had anything good to say about this new program. That one was probably written by someone at disney (No capital – you don’t deserve it anymore). This should show you how bad you messed up with the previous Disney fans. The website sucks, you can no longer find a list of eligible movies for submitting movie tickets for rewards. Also, terrible rewards. Program is no longer worth be a member of the program so I will cancel my membership immediately. I used to praise disney to my kids but after this bust, that will no longer happen either. The amount of negative comments you’ve already received should be an indicator of how bad this change has screwed up the once great image of what disney stood for. You should be ashamed of this terrible finagle. Sad, sad, sad.
Nobody who actually needs to read this ever will, but it’d be nice if the author of this blog post would do something to clear up the ridiculous misconceptions I’m seeing over and over in these comments.
1) I joined Disney Movie Rewards about 5 years ago. I can’t speak to what it was like the year before that, but for as long as I’ve been a member, points have expired. That’s nothing new.
2) You can still “hoard” points. The expiration policy hasn’t changed. Points only expire if there’s no activity on the account for a year. If you redeem points at least once per year, none of your points will expire. Just as it was when I first joined. Again, nothing new.
3) Even the FAQ says that they’ll be adding physical rewards back, slowly, over time. So everyone complaining about how they aren’t there needs to chill out. Complaining that your points are worthless because there’s currently nothing worth redeeming them for like is setting your life savings on fire because there’s currently nothing worth buying. It’s called patience.
4) Everyone complaining about how you would’ve bought the physical rewards before the changeover had they known about the changeover needs to pay more attention. I’m sorry, but there’s no better way to say it. They sent out multiple emails saying that the changes were coming and to get the physical rewards while you can, because it’d be a while before they were back up. And to sweeten the incentive, they even had a “clearance sale” where they (for some items, drastically) slashed the number of points required for the physical rewards–even, again, explaining in black & white that the coming changes were why they did it.
Are there actual issues with the change, like database errors and that don’t allow for the entry of valid codes? Absolutely.
But drowning those out with ridiculous complaints that have already been addressed (some of which that were addressed BEFORE the change) just serves to make it harder to separate the wheat from the chaff.
When Disney+ came out I couldn’t figure out what Disney was doing. They just about gave away all of their content for a giveaway subscription price. Disney never gave anything away. Why buy anymore DVDS when you can watch it online soon? So that got me to thinking about their Disney Movie Rewards and whether they would change it.
So, I just went online to see what movies I might buy with my points and surprise! All changed. I never got an email. The rewards now are pathetic. It’s just weird. Someone on here reported they will bring the DVDs back but it might take a year? Why would it take so long? So now I don’t know if I should cash out my points or wait. Whatever they are doing it must be because of money. Just can’t figure it out.
The new disney insider is lousy I enjoyed the rewards I like to use my.points for dvd for my grand kids change it back to more dvd options
Hi! Can you use these egift cards at Disney World for merchandise purchase?
Yes! You can use the gift cards just like cash at any Disney location.
I’m disappointed in the new program. I hope you bring back the movie reward option. I would have redeemed my points prior to the switch if I had known how bad the new system was going to be. Please bring them back!
I hate disney insiders when they switched over all my movies disappeared and when I ask if there was anything that they could do they told me no and asked me if I still all the inserts so that they could verify that I actually bought all of them I sent them numerous of emails about the problem no one has got back to me since I will not be buying anymore disney movies I can tell you that
This new site is unsatisfactory. I had saved thousands of points to get movies. Now they offer no movies, and most everything that they offer requiring points is no available. Do better, Disney. Suck less.
Wow. Can’t believe all the money I have spent on Disney and Marvel movies looking forward to using my points for older movies from the redemption site. There is not a single thing on the site I really want. Wish I had known I would have used all my points before. Very crappy Disney. I’m not going to bother entering the codes any longer.
This stinks! I got disney points, but now can not redem them on Dvd’s and Blu ray. I dont want posters and stickers! its ok, to donate to the hospitals though, and if thats all thats left I might just donate the rest of my points for some good, and then drop the site. Its not worth wasting your time on any more it used to be really good. I am however going to give it a chance, that it might just be the covid 19. Thats been giving everyone a head ache. However I see no reason that they can not start shipping Dvd’s, the usps and ups ship the mail. Others such as Best buy and target ship as well.
Do you know if Disney Insiders allows multiple accounts for the same household? Like if I and my sister both have an account and we’re at the same address, does it allow this?
