This past holiday weekend, I visited the Walt Disney World Resort. It wasn’t a full on Christmas trip, but I made sure to experience some of the newer things including getting the chance to ride Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance (got one of the last back up boarding passes possible for the day!) and I explored the newest Walt Disney World Resort Hotel, Disney’s Riviera Resort, which opened a week before my trip.
Imagine my excitement when just a couple of days before my vacation, I was able to manage to score a breakfast reservation to the brand new character experience at Topolino’s Terrace!
Topolino’s Terrace can be found on the 10th floor of this new Disney Vacation Club Resort. The restaurant, which gets its name from the fact that Topolino is what the Italians call Mickey Mouse, features stunning views of the Walt Disney World Resort. There is even a great bar area outside with couches that would allow for Guests to sit and relax a bit. While music isn’t piped in for fireworks, it’s still a great spot to view them.
When Guests enter Topolino’s Terrace, they will see a beautiful display of various wines, as well as displays of pasta and cured meats. The overall restaurant is quite spacious with lots of seating for Guests.
Breakfast is a character meal and features the characters celebrating the arts. You have Mickey as a painter, Minnie as a writer, Donald as a sculpter, and Daisy as a dancer.
Every hour or so, the characters celebrate with a fun little song! Take a look:

Guests sit down and are first served Riviera Juice….otherwise known as POG Juice or a million other names by Disney. Riviera Juice is passion fruit, orange, and guava juices mixed together. Guests can then order a non-specialty beverage of their choice.
After ordering Guests are brought out a cute display of pastries to share amongst the table. These were quite delicious and a great pre-breakfast snack. Pastries include croissants, apple turnovers and chocolate chip muffins. There are also three different kinds of spreads – Honey Butter, House-made Strawberry Jam, and Chocolate – Hazelnut Mousse.
I didn’t want to fill up though because I had a main course coming that I was excited about!
As for the main breakfast options, this is not your traditional breakfast. There’s no pancakes, no Mickey waffles, no regular scrambled eggs….instead dishes are a little fancier. Items include Quiche Gruyère, Spiced Sausage Hash, Sour Cream Waffles, Croissant au Jambon, Wild Mushroom Scramble, and Smoked Salmon. But I didn’t get any of these items! Instead, after speaking with our server, who steered me away from the Sour Cream Waffles, insisted that I should try the Wood-fired Butchers Steak. This dish was served with Polenta, Pomodoraccio Tomatoes, Roasted Onions, Wild Mushroom Conserva, Watercress.
As soon as my plate was set down, I knew I made the right choice. This was, hands down, one of the best tasting steaks I’ve eaten. It was cooked to perfection – a perfect medium rare. It was juicy and had a great charred flavoring. Another favorite was the polenta which was incredibly delicious and cheesy!
I am usually a sweet breakfast person. I very rarely choose a savory choice for my breakfast, but in this instance, I regretted nothing.
As far as kiddos, while I found this restaurant, oddly enough to be somewhat geared more towards adult sensibilities, I think the kids menu features a number of choices that would be enjoyable, including scrambled eggs, Mickey Waffle Dippers, and Fruit and Yogurt.
Overall, given the dish that I ordered and the fact that this was a character meal with unique character apparel, I thought this meal was a great value. Now, depending on what you order, the value definitely goes down, but for me, I would go back again in a heartbeat. (And you can bet I would get the steak again!)
