Halloween is my most favorite time of the year! Part of that fun is enjoying all of the spooky movies, along with the not so spooky Disney Halloween movies. Disney’s streaming service, Disney+ has lots of fun options to choose from for kids & kids at heart to get in the Halloween spirit. Below I’ve listed some of my favorites!
Hocus Pocus
This classic Disney film is about the Sanderson sisters who are brought back on Halloween night. Chaos ensues when the witches “run amuck” and try to steal the youth of children. This is on my must watch Halloween list!
Nightmare Before Christmas
I’m in the minority here. Not a a favorite of mine, but a must watch, nonetheless. While also a Christmas movie, this movie follows the tale of Jack Skellington who discovers the joy of the world of Christmas & the two worlds collide. Definitely watch this one this Halloween season!
The Haunted Mansion
Themed after one of everybody’s favorite Magic Kingdom rides, Eddie Murphy plays the real estate agent who tries to rescue the haunted mansion when the chaos and terror ensues.
Halloweentown (1 through 4)
My personal favorite of all Halloween movies are the Halloweentown movies. The first movie is a classic, while Halloweentown High is probably my most favorite. When I watch these movies, I know it’s spooky time! They are such a fun movie that combines the magic of Halloween with today’s modern world.
Coco
While I don’t consider this one a Halloween movie, it’s a great one to watch this time of year. Inspired by Day of the Dead, all of the colours & rich Mexican culture come together in this movie to follow Miguel & Coco on their journey with lost loved ones.
Frankenweenie
Another Tim Burton film, this tale of a boy & his dog who passed, brings him back to life – literally. Not one of my favourites, but a great watch!
Twitches (1 & 2)
Another one of my classic favorite Halloween movie series! The tale of two long lost twin witches who find each other as teenagers & discover their magical past. They go on a journey together to find their birth parents, and save the world from the darkness.
Mom’s Got a Date with a Vampire
Adam and Chelsea are grounded, but want to enjoy a night out. To distract their mom, they send her on a blind date with a vampire, without knowing he is one. They end up fighting him off in this horror-comedy.
Some other Halloween movies being offered on Disney + include;
- Zombies
- The Scream Team
- Girl vs. Monster
- The Ghosts of Buxley Hall
- Phantom of the Megaplex
- Don’t Look Under the Bed
- The Adventures of Ichabod & Mr. Toad
I hope these movies help get you in the spooky spirit!
