- There are a couple of ride refurbishments that are coming up that you should be aware of. First of all, Kali River Rapids at Disney’s Animal Kingdom will be closed from January 6 – February 15. Also, over at the Magic Kingdom, The Mad Tea Party will be down for a refurb from January 7 – February 18.
- Star Wars Weekends Dates have officially been announced! For guests who would like to get closer to the Force, they may do so at Disney’s Hollywood Studios from May 17 – June 9. The event takes place on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays and features special meet-and-greet opportunities with Star Wars celebrities, meets with characters from the film (Hello Luke Skywalker!), one of a kind merchandise, plus special shows and presentations. The celebrity hosts for this year will once again be James Arnold Taylor and Ashley Eckstein, both voice actors for Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The celebrity guest line up has not been announced just yet. Stay tuned for more details. This will be the first year that Star Wars Weekends will take place since Disney purchased the franchise from George Lucas.
- Disney’s celebration for 2013 is called Limited Time Magic and it celebrates little surprises that will take place each week at the Resort. The first magical enhancement has been announced for Walt Disney World and it is called “Bling in the New Year” Dance Party. Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy live entertainment and dance their cares away with select Disney characters at the Rockettower Stage in Tomorrowland. Then each hour, guests will get to count down to the “New Year”. The first magical event is going on now until January 5. In addition, throughout the year, Disney is having another promotion called Year of the Ear. This merchandise promotion will allow guests to purchase unique ear hats each month.
