Every week we will take a look at some fun, interesting, or new aspect of cruising the high seas!

One of the most wonderful things about Disney Cruise Line is innovation. The staterooms, dining, and ships all feature new and exciting enhancements to cruising. Activities also are innovative. One such fun and innovative idea recently began onboard the Disney ships: the AquaDucky Derby.
Guests and crew onboard all four ships purchased little yellow rubber ducks. They were able to personalize them in the form of decorations. And then the races began. On the Dream and Fantasy, the ducks were placed atop the AquaDuck water coaster and sent racing down the ride. On the Magic and Wonder, the ducks raced in a course set up in Goofy’s pool.

Combined, the participants on the four ships raised almost $14,000 with will be donated to Make-A-Wish International. Disney has granted over 81,000 wishes in the last 32 years. Close to 50% of the organizations wishes involve Disney in some form.
For those of us not lucky enough to be able to participate in the fun, Disney Parks posted a video. It looks like a good time was had by all.
The AquaDucky Derby marks the 30th anniversary of the Disney VoluntEARS program. Last year alone, Disney Cruise Line cast and crew members donated more than 4,500 hours of service while completing 75 community outreach projects throughout Central Florida and around the world.

I look forward to seeing what new and interesting activities Disney Cruise Line continues to dream up for cruisers. This looks like a great way to benefit a worthy cause.
Bon voyage!
