In honor of the 8th anniversary of Adventures by Disney (June 15, 2005), I asked Carol Gallo, an agent with The Magic for Less Travel, to share some of her recent adventure with us. Read on to see what Carol has to say.
It was an adventure of a lifetime! Recently I had the opportunity to travel to Southeast Asia with Adventures by Disney. I have traveled to Europe, Iceland and Northern Africa, but this was my first chance to visit Asia. I looked forward to having a new experience and to explore new cultures.
This was my second Adventure by Disney experience. My first trip was to France several years ago. Adventures by Disney prides itself on offering guests the “Disney difference” which sets them apart from all other tour operators. An Adventures by Disney vacation features the first class service and attention to detail that is characteristic of Disney.
Our adventure begins in Ho Chi Minh City also know as Saigon. We stayed at the Sheraton Saigon which is a great property right in the heart of the city offering all the comforts of home. Our first activity was a cruise down the Mekong River. As we sailed down the Mekong we passed many floating markets offering local fresh fruits and products for sale. Our local guide even stopped and got us a few coconuts to try. The highlight of the day for me was our welcome dinner. As we were finishing up our meal our guides surprised us with a real treat. Local performers know as Lion Dancers appeared out of nowhere to put on an amazing show.
This itinerary is nonstop adventure. Before we left Ho Chi Minh City we had a chance to explore the Cu Chi Tunnels . These tunnels were used by the Viet Cong during the war. We next flew to Hoi An and stayed at a beautiful beach front property on the Eastern Sea. Highlights in Hoi An were a private cooking class and lantern making. Next stop a flight to Hanoi. We stayed at the 5 star Sofitel Legend Metrople that offered amazing service. In Hanoi we had a chance to see their famous water puppet show. Early morning we joined a local tai chi master in a nearby park. This adventure also includes a stay in Cambodia. In Cambodia a local expert met us at the Angkor Temple ruins. He lead us on a fascinating tour of the temple. We had a tour via Tuk-Tuk which is their local transportation. That afternoon we even had a chance to ride elephants!
All in all a fantastic trip that I would recommend to anyone.
