Have you heard that great news that the 2014 packages for Walt Disney World were released today? There has been a lot of talk about it online lately as people waited to plan their vacations for next year. Are you planning your trip for next year? If so, I’m sure you have found that there are a LOT of places to stay onsite.
When we start planning our trips, we have a series of steps that we take. After deciding how long we are going to stay, we try to decide where to stay. This is by no means an easy thing to do; since, we have two children with very different tastes. Of course, we as parents have our own ideas of where to stay, too. So, how do we narrow things down for debate?
We start with cost, first. Some trips are definitely Value resort stays, and some trips are Deluxe resort stays. However, there are trips that fall between and become Moderate resort stays. Last year, was one of the Moderate resort stays. When we told the kids that we were looking at the Moderate level, they started discussing the different amenities at the various Moderate resorts. We chose the Port Orleans Riverside Resort for a variety of reasons:
- The boat to Downtown Disney
- Yehaa Bob at the River Roost Lounge
- The Royal Guest Rooms
- The Food Court at the resort
When we considered a Deluxe resort stay, the kids wanted to stay at the Contemporary Resort for several reasons, but the most important two reasons were the monorail running right through the resort and the walkway to the Magic Kingdom. How cool is it to walk to the park instead of hopping on a bus? However, our next Deluxe resort stay will likely be over at the Yacht Club or Beach Club because of how much the kids LOVE Epcot. They would love to be able to walk into the park through the International Gateway.
About Value resorts… It’s been a few years; since, we have stayed in a Value resort. Having lived in the West for several years, we just didn’t get over to Walt Disney World as often as we wanted to. There has been discussion about the Values recently, and I’m sure it is no surprise that my kids would like to stay at the Art of Animation resort. My daughter wants to stay in a Little Mermaid room, but my son has his eyes set on a Cars suite.
What about you? What factors in to your resort decision?
