The most famous Disney sisters of all!
August 4th is National Sisters Day here in the United States, and it got me thinking about the times my family met some of the most famous Disney sisters of all: Anna and Elsa. We’ve been lucky enough to meet them in Disneyland, Walt Disney World and on board the Disney Dream!
THE DISNEY DREAM
On board the Disney Dream, we met the two sisters from Arendelle inside the Animator’s Palate, one of the restaurants that is part of the rotational dining on the ship. This restaurant has many screens scattered throughout the dining area, which made transforming this place into wintry Arendelle a breeze. Guests were given instructions on how to book complimentary meet-and-greet tickets before the cruise started, which helped to control the crowds that often form when these two sisters meet their fans.
Our tickets gave us a time to enter the restaurant, where there were Frozen coloring sheets and crayons on tables for young guests to use while they were waiting their turn. Once it was our turn to meet the sisters, they spent a good amount of time with us, signing our daughter’s autograph book, talking to her and posing for pictures with all of us.
Note that Castaway Club members get to reserve these meet-and-greet tickets sooner than other guests. If meeting the sisters on board is a priority for your family, make sure you know exactly when you are able to reserve your tickets, and do it as soon as possible.
DISNEYLAND
Disneyland has changed the location and procedure for meeting the sisters several times since Frozen opened. When we first met them here, it was during a season declared as Frozen Fun in California Adventure. Not only were there meet-and-greets with the sisters, but we also met Olaf in a wintry wonderland full of snow, ice and slides. Every evening there was a Frozen themed dance party complete with ice sculptors and a huge Marshmallow figure.
Although Frozen Fun is no more, you can still meet Anna and Elsa in the same location: The Animation Building. Although it has been offered in the past, currently there is no FastPass to meet the sisters, so if this is a priority for you, get in line first thing in the morning or during traditional mealtimes. Luckily, the queue is indoors and air conditioned.
WALT DISNEY WORLD
Just like Disneyland, Walt Disney World has changed the location and procedure for meeting the sisters several times in recent years. When we met them, they were holding court in Princess Fairytale Hall in the Magic Kingdom, and this was THE FastPass+ to try to snag. The sisters no longer greet guests here, but you can still meet some other pretty awesome princesses here.
Not to worry – the sisters are still available to meet guests in Epcot, in the Royal Sommerhus, which was built especially for them. Inside a structure that takes its architectural cues from Norwegian traditions, the sisters meet guests all day long. (This area is open earlier than many other World Showcase attractions.) This is no longer a FastPass+ attraction, so if meeting the sisters is a priority for you, plan accordingly. Lines tend to be shortest first thing in the morning, during traditional meal times, and late at night.
