Christmas! It’s the most wonderful time of the year! At the Walt Disney World Resort, it’s also the most magical time of the year! Visiting Walt Disney World during the holidays gave me a list of new favorite things during Christmas to enjoy.
Favorites at Magic Kingdom
I opted to skip Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at the Magic Kingdom for another splurge in the trip, though I didn’t feel I was missing out on holiday fun. All four parks have huge Christmas trees, and this one on Main Street, U.S.A is sure to catch your eye!
The Dapper Dans were another favorite of mine on Main Street, U.S.A. They entertain guests with Christmas Carols.
There are Christmas decorations in every nook and cranny at the Magic Kingdom, but one of my favorite spots was the holiday overlay of the Jungle Cruise. At Christmastime, the Jungle Cruise becomes the Jingle Cruise! Holiday decorations and seasonal puns abound here!
Favorites at Epcot
Epcot is my favorite park, and it did not disappoint with the Christmas Festivities! The topiaries were outstanding!
Christmas decorations were plentiful, and I enjoyed the holiday additions to the Living With The Land attraction.
The Epcot International Festival of the Holidays provides food and beverage kiosks as well as decorations, Christmas trees, and entertainment throughout the World Showcase. Various countries offer holiday storytelling from characters such as La Befana in Italy, Sigrid in Norway, Pere Noel in France, and more! In The American Adventure, the Voices of Liberty sing Christmas Carols and there is a gingerbread display of the US Capitol Building.
I purchased the Candlelight Processional Dinner Package so I knew that I would have a guaranteed seat for the show. Neil Patrick Harris was the Narrator, and the Candlelight Processional was a highlight of my trip!
Favorites at Hollywood Studios
One of my favorite things about Tinsel Town is that it was decorated with………lots of tinsel! These decorations reminded me of my grandparents’ house on Christmas Morning.
My splurge for the trip was the Dessert Party for Jingle Bell, Jingle Bam! This was worth every penny! I devoured sweet and savory treats, and then enjoyed the Jingle Bell, Jingle Bam! show in a not-at-all-crowded area with 3-D glasses that highlighted effects I would not have seen otherwise. I enjoyed the moments so much that I did not take the time to take photos, but if you want to check out the show, we have a great video.
Favorites at Animal Kingdom
I could spend a couple of days in Animal Kingdom just soaking up the details. During my first Christmas visit, these details were my favorite things! Check out the ornaments on the Christmas trees in Dinoland!
Throughout Animal Kingdom there were Christmas touches that fit in well with the theme of the park. These wreaths with recycled materials won a place in my heart for their creativity and beauty.
Another favorite in Animal Kingdom was the ease of meeting characters decked out in their holiday outfits!
Animal Kingdom is adding more holiday festivities in 2019, and I can’t wait to experience it!
Favorites at Walt Disney World Resorts
No Walt Disney World Christmas trip is complete without visiting some of the resorts to Ooh and Aah over the breathtaking decorations! Every resort has festivity. The huge (huge! huge!) Gingerbread house at the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa is an absolute must see. And must smell! The gingerbread smell is as heavenly as the display!
The display in the Contemporary Resort was also a Christmas favorite.
Moving on from gingerbread to chocolate, the Beach Club Resort displayed a Lilo and Stitch themed Carousel that was also a top favorite.
The Yacht Club Resort displayed a fascinating train garden, well worth a visit for all ages!
The moderate and value resorts also had fun decorations to admire. I stayed at the All Star Music Resort. The Cast Members had a wreath decorating contest, and the tree in the lobby was well themed.
Favorites at Disney Springs
Disney Springs is a shopping and dining mecca year round, though during the Christmas season it takes on a special glow. Holiday decorations are plentiful. My favorite was the Christmas Tree Trail. The Trail features well themed Christmas trees as well as snow in Florida! That is truly magical!
Unexpected Favorites: Flowers & Snacks
I visited the Walt Disney World Resort when my December home was gray, cold, and had the threat of snow flakes. Florida was literally a breath of fresh air! The flora and fauna were a colorful retreat from a cold climate. I savored the sunshine and flowers. I could even dine outdoors, a true winter rarity for me!
I don’t think anyone can leave the Walt Disney World Resort hungry as there are so many snacks to devour. The multiple Walt Disney World Christmas themed treats were a temptation throughout my trip. I indulged. Every holiday snack was worth every bite!
