With all the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge hubbub, it’s easy to forget that there really are other things at Disney’s Hollywood Studios…and one of those things could very well be something you’ve never heard of. But if you’re walking to go to Galaxy’s Edge, you’ve likely passed it!
On the corner of Grand Avenue sits a somewhat unassuming little lounge. You may notice the tables that sit outside under the trees and a few Guests who have congregated, but step inside and it’s a world of wonder.
Baseline Tap House is themed after an industrial pub. On the inside you’ll notice nods to The the Figueroa Printing Company. The story goes that this mom-and-pop print house once enjoyed a flourishing partnership with Disney Studios. You’ll see wonderful works of art that line the walls that indicate that this was a former print shop.
Make sure you listen to the music here! It’s quite eclectic, but very enjoyable with jazzy versions of songs you may currently hear on the radio.
When you enter, you’ll find a long bar area where you can place your order. Beverage options include many California beers all on tap. You can even create your own beer flight, if you so choose. There are also a couple of wine options, as well as cocktails, but really, the main draw here, as far as beverages are concerned, are the beers.
For me, however, the main draw here are the small plates! This is one of my favorite places to grab a quick nosh with two dishes that really stand at the forefront.
The first is the Bavarian Pretzel which is served with Beer-Cheese Fondue and Spicy Mustard. This pretzel is huge! It’s nice and soft and the beer-cheese fondue is incredible to dip in, with a rich, velvety cheesy flavor.
My second favorite thing to get here is the California Cheese and Charcuterie Plate. Here you’ll find Toma Farmstead Cheese, Point Reyes Original Blue Cheese, Laura Chenel’s Sonoma Goat Cheese, Chorizo and Calabrese Salami, Cornichons, Grapes and Toasted Baguettes. Oh my goodness. I could live off the creamy cheese, the salty salami, and the crisp baguettes, I think! Everything on this plate is so incredible.
My best suggestion is to grab one of each and share among the group. Unless there are a lot of you…then grab two of each and share! Oh and make sure you grab a beverage too! You’ll certainly want something to pair with all that delicious food.
