On my recent trip to Walt Disney World, we explored the new Disney’s Riviera Resort. Last week, I discussed the character breakfast we enjoyed at Topolino’s Terrace and today, we’ll be taking a look at their new counter service location called Primo Piatto.
Primo Piatto is on the bottom level of the resort. Guests will find Booths, tables, and high top communal seating, as well as mosaic tile-work and photos of Walt and Lilian on their travels in the French Riviera and throughout Europe that line the walls of the restaurant. The quick service location offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner options and Guests can use Mobile Order to place their order. Guests can also place their order with a Cast Member at a walk up counter.
Let’s move onto the food options. Primo Piatto feature unique items, including a number of healthier choices, as well as some classic favorites. For lunch, menu offerings mostly include sandwiches, salads, and artisinal pizzas. (Dinner includes a few more hearty options like a hangar steak and chicken cutlet.)
I chose the Croque Monsieur, which is a classic French Ham and Swiss that is served with your choice of a side. I opted for the Romano & Herb Fries. The sandwich itself was really good. It was toasted in butter, with a slice of cheese grilled on top. The ham was quality ham and there was a lot of it. The fries were quite tasty too. Perfectly crunchy with the herbs and cheese adding a nice flavor profile.
Moving over to the kids options. There are some healthy options, as well as some choices that every kid would love, like pizza, chicken nuggets, and cheeseburgers. We tried the unique option of the Grilled Chicken Breast which is served with Grape Tomatoes and apples. This is certainly a unique option for a kids offering, but the chicken was quite juicy, the tomatoes were fresh and the apples were the traditional apples you’d get from Disney kids meals.
Finally, we tried dessert. I got the Chocolate Lava Cake. It is served with raspberries on top, which I didn’t love, because I don’t actually like raspberries. But if you do, they are a nice accompaniment. The lava cake wasn’t so much lava-y. There was no chocolate oozing out, which is what I would expect from a lava cake. Instead, it was more of a flourless cake, where it had a creamy consistency throughout. It tasted delicious, either way! A very smooth, chocolatey flavor.
Overall, I enjoyed my experience at Primo Piatto. I think it’s a great option for those who are visiting the resort and since it’s an easy Disney Skyliner ride away from Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, it’s a great place to consider if you want to get away.
