The newest Walt Disney World Restaurant is now open at Disney Springs. City Works Eatery & Pour House can be found adjacent to the NBA Experience and it is the ultimate sports bar for those who are looking for a great place to catch the game!
City Works serves up classic American food with some unique twists, offers a large craft beer list with 90 local and global options, and an upbeat, energetic atmosphere. The restaurant itself is quite large and there are televisions everywhere, making it very easy to find whatever you’re looking for, as far as sporting opportunities are concerned. There are a number of bars available for Guests to sidle up to and for those looking to sit outside, there are seats available. The atmosphere is definitely fun and lively!
Now, let’s get to the food, because we tried a lot of it!
First, we got the Pretzel Bites, which includes a beer cheese sauce. While the pretzel bites were good…with a good salt ratio and very soft, my complaint comes with the cheese. That little dish is all the cheese you get. In addition, I found the cheese itself to be very bland. (Though maybe that’s because I could barely get any cheese onto the pretzel in the first place.)
Let’s dive into the entrees. There are a number of burgers and sandwiches available here, as well as a larger variety of other unique options that range from salads, to full on entrees, to tacos, and more.
The basic burger is known as the City Works Burger. It comes with aged white cheddar, shredded iceburg lettuce, vine-ripened tomato, red onion on a brioche bun with a dill pickle on top.
If you’re looking for a little heat with your burger, try the Scorpion Burger. This is served with habanero pepper jack cheese, jalapenos, five pepper jam, arugula, vine-ripened tomato, and scorpion pepper aioli.
Let’s move to the regular entrees. We also tried the Cajun Linguine. This pasta dish is served with blackened chicken, andouille sausage, bell peppers, red onion, scallions, and sriracha cream. Again, this dish had a little kick to it, but it was quite delicious and filling. (Water may very well be your friend with this one.)
The last dish we tried was a little unusual. Listed under the all-day breakfast options was the breakfast tacos. These are three tacos served with scrambled eggs, bacon, green onion, smoked tomato, chipotle maple glaze, smoked cheddar and cheesy potato casserole on the side. These were very good, however I found them to be a little bland. I would have liked just a hint of additional flavor from maybe more maple glaze. There was definitely something missing. Also a bit of a miss was the potato casserole. I was expecting more of a hashbrown consistency and these were not. These were not my favorite potatoes and I think I would see if I could substitute them the next time, if I got this dish again.
We also opted to try a couple of the desserts….you know….for research.
The first was the Smores Dip. This is served in a cast iron skillet and has chocolate on the bottom, large marshmallows that have been kissed with fire and graham crackers for dipping. The marshmallows definitely overpowered this dish. It was certainly a good shareable dessert though.
The dessert you won’t want to share. The Baked Cookie Dough. Which I know you are thinking, Rikki, isn’t that just a cookie? It is not! Also served in a cast iron skillet is just undercooked enough that it is still extremely gooey! Add on top the vanilla ice cream and this is my favorite dessert! I would totally come in here for this during a late night touring around Disney Springs.
Overall, I found the meal at City Works to be a good stop for those looking for the game and a drink, but maybe not the place where you would go for any kind of ambitious menu. There are other Disney Springs restaurants for that. City Works certainly serves a purpose though.
