Here we are in quarantine 2020 and we are all feeling a little restless. Our normal escape down the street, Walt Disney World, is closed for business. This year, as we prepared for Easter we had to create our own Disney magic!
Our Easter Tree
Inspired by our new, white holiday tree in the not too deep recesses of the hall closet, we decided to create an Easter tree. In years past, we had a small decorative palm tree to hang the handful of decorative eggs with hanging loops. However, this year we were going bigger. Decorating a full tree would require more than the 12 eggs used previously, so we included the Disney Tsum Tsum collection into the mix. From the classics to Star Wars to Pixar hits, our tree was a treasure chest of so many family Disney memories. The “ornaments” were light enough to sit on the branches and provided much entertainment. We identified each one and recalled when and where we purchased them along the way.
Neighborhood fun
Our neighborhood also had an egg hunt with a twist this year. Celebrating social distancing, but allowing the kids to “find” eggs. Easter egg coloring sheets were printed out and put up in windows so families could walk or drive by and find eggs all throughout the community. We added a touch of Disney by including a few hidden Mickeys too!
Some neighbors also included a character hunt, in lieu of doing their traditional Easter egg hunt through World Showcase at Epcot. They asked neighbors to put their Disney characters in the windows so their kids could go find them. They created a map for all to enjoy this fun adventure if others wanted to play along.
After all was done, we watched Disney Fairy Tale Weddings and fell asleep, looking forward to days when we can go back to worrying about FastPasses and when to get the next annual pass magnet. After all – “There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow”!
