Disney’s Riviera Resort in Florida opened in December of 2019. While it is part of the collection of Disney Vacation Club resorts, you do not have to be a Vacation Club member to stay there. Here are 5 reasons why you should stay at Disney’s Riviera Resort.
#1 Location and the Skyliner
The Riviera Resort is located between Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Epcot. Both parks can be accessed via the Skyliner transportation system.
Truth be told, the Skyliner is an attraction in itself! Much like the monorail, the Skyliner is a fabulous attraction, not just a form of transportation. It provides a quick way to get to the parks, and back home again after a long day. Loading is continuous on the Skyliner so even if the lines look long, they will most likely move quickly.
A Skyliner ride to Hollywood Studios from the Riviera requires a transfer at Caribbean Beach, while a ride to Epcot does not. Even with a transfer, this smooth ride will get you to the parks before you know it.
#2 Food
Disney’s Riviera Resort offers several options for food. The very popular Topolino’s Terrace restaurant sits atop the center tower of the resort and offers both character dining for breakfast and a relaxing, high-end dinner in the evening. For a quick drink or bite by the pool you can visit Bar Riva. Throughout the day you can get coffee or cocktails and Parisian pastries at Le Petit Café, located in the lobby next to the gift shop.
Primo Piatto is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and serves a delicious quick serve meal. Mobile ordering is available at this location. The dining area at Primo Piatto is a decent size for a resort quick service restaurant, and there is also patio seating outside if you prefer. An allergy menu is available on request and offers a wide variety of choices.
#3 Atmosphere and artwork
Throughout the Riviera Resort you will find European inspired artwork with Disney touches. Two of the most popular pieces of art are the tile murals located just as the resort meets the Skyliner walkway. One mural features the lantern festival from Tangled, while the other features characters and the night sky scene from Peter Pan.
The art that you find throughout the resort are done with a European style and feature some of your Disney favorites. This art is available in print form in a variety sizes and framing options, via a kiosk at the gift shop in the lobby.
#4 Activities
There are 2 pools at Disney’s Riviera Resort, the family-friendly Riviera Pool complete with slide, and the more relaxing Beau Soleil Pool (the quiet pool). In addition to these pools, there is also an interactive splash area for kids with a Fantasia theme called S’il Vous Play.
If you like to exercise while on vacation, you can do so at the Athletique Fitness Center. Other fun activities you can enjoy at the Riviera Resort are bocce ball and giant chess.
If you’re a fan of Disney memorabilia be sure and check out the library, just around the corner from Le Petit Cafe. There is an area outside specifically designed for movies under the stars as well.
#5 Wide selection of accommodations
Since Disney’s Riviera Resort is a Disney Vacation Club property, there are several different types of accommodations to choose from when staying there. The standard size room available is what is known as a Deluxe Studio. These studios offer a queen-size bed, a pull-down queen-size Murphy bed and an additional single pull down bed and a kitchenette. These rooms can sleep up to 5.
Also available are one and two bedroom villas, each including full-size kitchens, a living room and a washer/dryer.
The newest addition to Disney Vacation Club accommodations is found only at the Riviera Resort, the Tower Studio. This smaller sized room can accommodate up to 2 adults and has one queen-size bed. Since there were just two of us on our trip in February, we opted for a Tower Studio. While small, it actually had everything we needed, and we really enjoyed our stay!
When planning your next Walt Disney World resort stay, consider Disney’s Riviera Resort. Odds are you’ll be very happy you did!
