Walt Disney World looks different now. To be compliant with COVID-19 guidelines, several new health and safety measures are in effect. One of the precautions that Disney has made was canceling the very popular Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Parties. But never fear – if you’re heading to Walt Disney World during the Halloween season, you’ll still find some spooky fun!
CHARACTER CAVALCADES
Although there are no parades happening in the theme parks right now, you can still catch your favorite characters in their Halloween costumes during the Character Cavalcades in the Magic Kingdom! You can see what Halloween costumes Mickey and Goofy have come up with. You can also enjoy the Disney villains as they pass by.
THE CADAVER DANS
The usually peppy and brightly costumed Dapper Dans transform into the spooky, eerie Cadaver Dans during the Halloween season. You can catch them performing on Main Street, U.S.A. This talented barbershop quartet will sing songs appropriate for the season.
THE TWILIGHT ZONE TOWER OF TERROR
There are not many things scarier than dropping thirteen stories in an out-of-control elevator. This Hollywood Studios attraction is spooky all year round, of course, but there is something about riding this during the Halloween season that is deliciously scary.
THE HAUNTED MANSION
For many Disney Parks guests, Halloween is nothing more than a good excuse to start playing Grim Grinning Ghosts on repeat. This classic Disney attraction has been spooking guests with its not-so-terrifying décor and fun-loving ghosts for decades.
HOLLYWOOD & VINE
If you’d like to enjoy a meal in Hollywood Studios and catch a glimpse of Minnie Mouse in her Halloween costume, this is the place to do it! Although Minnie will not give hugs or sign autographs, you can give her a friendly wave and take socially-distanced selfies to the famed Mouse. Here is our review of this dining experience.
HALLOWEEN MERCHANDISE
If you want to buy some spooky Disney-themed merchandise to bring back home, you’ll find tons of options in the parks and also at Disney Springs. Halloween mouse ears, home décor, masks, T-shirts and just about anything else you can imagine is for sale.
DELICIOUS TREATS
You’ll find yummy options at all of the theme parks and Disney Springs. Most of these options are of the sweet variety, but there are some savory options thrown in there as well, such as the Hades Nachos in the Magic Kingdom. There are a few options (notably the Halloween Cupcake in Epcot) that will only be available on Halloween Day itself, but most treats will be there during the entire season.
WEAR YOUR COSTUME!
Disney is allowing guests of all ages to come into the Magic Kingdom wearing their Halloween costumes throughout the Halloween season this year. There are some rules about what is and is not permitted, so be sure to check the official Walt Disney World website for details before you pack that costume. But for guests who are looking to get some Halloween spirit on during their vacation, this is welcome news.
