My family’s vacations at the Grand Californian, past and future
At Walt Disney World, the seasons change overnight from Halloween to Christmas. But not in my house. We never neglect Thanksgiving, the American holiday that my family uses to reflect and give thanks for all that we’re grateful for.
Beautiful lamp in the Grand Californian
Even during the pandemic, we’ve got a lot of gratitude. For each other. For the fact that we’re all healthy. For the fact that my husband and I both have work we can do at home. For the fact that my daughter is excelling at remote learning.
I wanted to share with you why I’m grateful to Disney this year, and at the end of this post, my fellow bloggers share what they’re grateful for!
I’M GRATEFUL TO BE A DISNEY VACATION CLUB MEMBER
Thanks to the generosity of my parents, who are the reason I’m a Disney travel nut to begin with, we’re a DVC family. This means that we get discounts and perks throughout the year. It also means that my parents can spend their points to get the whole family together for family reunions. The last one was in Walt Disney World, and the next one is planned for January or February 2022 in Disneyland.
I’M GRATEFUL FOR DISNEY +
The Disney + rollout couldn’t have happened at a better time. While we were stunned and upset that we couldn’t visit our beloved parks for a while, we were able to dive into The Imagineering Story and One Day at Disney to get an up close, behind the scenes, and sometimes personal view of what goes into making that magic year after year.
I’M GRATEFUL FOR THE DISNEY TRAVEL COMMUNITY
It’s amazing to talk to people online about our mutual love of Disney travel. In The Mouse For Less’s Facebook group, newbies chat with veterans about the best times of year to travel, favorite restaurants, best ways to beat the lines, and now, what sort of safety measures are in place because of COVID-19. I’m extraordinarily grateful that a few years ago, I got to meet two wonderful Mouse for Lessers at the Grand Californian in Disneyland!
Here’s what some of my fellow bloggers have to say:
Bob Porell:
“I am thankful for the joyous times it has provided my family and how a trip with my son brought us closer together.”
Cristina Berg:
“I am thankful for the magical memories with my family and the new friends I have been able to make through my love of Disney.”
Tina Avallone:
“I’m thankful such a place exists that I can visit multiple times and have a new experience each time. Along with the fact that you can forget reality when you are there and be fully immersed in the magic.”
Madelyn McBrayer Egli:
“I’m so thankful for the people at Disney. The cast members are the ones who make it an extra magical experience. My family still talks about our interactions with them on a regular basis…years later!”
Rikki Niblett
“I am continuously thankful for the Disney community. It has brought me friends and those friends that I consider to now be my family. It allows me to spend time with my actual family where we really get to focus on enjoying each other’s company. The Disney community has given me the life that I have currently, and I cannot express enough how much it means to me.”
