It’s been several years since my last stay at the Art of Animation Resort at Walt Disney World, so I was very excited to book it for a weekend visit. I was fortunate to find some great prices for the resort through my Disney Chase Visa card. Right now, with the Chase credit card promotion, annual passholder rates, and some other early spring discounts, there are some great deals going on for the Disney resorts right now. Check them out! I ultimately chose this resort based on price, but the Art of Animation hotel is such a fun place to stay! The rooms are themed with scenes and characters from some of Disney’s most popular animated films. If you are a fan of The Little Mermaid, Cars, The Lion King, or Finding Nemo, I think you will truly enjoy this resort.
The Little Mermaid Rooms
The Little Mermaid is my favorite Disney movie of all time, so of course I was thrilled to stay under the sea with my favorite Princess, Ariel. The décor of the room was adorable! Even the bathroom was decorated to fit the theme. The room also had many convenient features such as a refrigerator, hair dryer, and basic toiletries that made our stay comfortable.
The Landscape of Flavors is a quick and easy place to grab a meal or snack. Currently, the Disney resorts are using their mobile order feature to speed up the process of ordering food. I found mobile order to be speedy and efficient at the Landscape of Flavors food court. It was great to be able to order breakfast from my room. By the time I walked over, my meal was ready for pick up.
The Big Blue Pool was being refurbished during my stay, but I did get the chance to check it out on a previous visit. It was a little chilly for swimming when I visited anyway, but the other pools were open. Be sure to check them out if you visit in the warmer months.
One of my favorite features of this resort is that it is on the Skyliner line. The Disney Skyliner runs from several hotels to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and EPCOT. I found the trip over to the parks very enjoyable and relaxing. To me, this is almost like getting to ride an attraction before you even arrive at the parks. Such a fun experience!
Are you headed to the Magic Kingdom or Animal Kingdom? Or maybe the Skyliner isn’t your thing? You can also take a bus to the parks. Buses are still operating with reduced capacity to allow for physical distancing, however. Just something to keep in mind if you are traveling to the parks at peak times.
Lion King Family Suite
I enjoyed my stay so much that I decided to book another stay at the Art of Animation resort again just a few weeks later. My second trip came with a special surprise and a little bit of Disney magic, an upgrade to a Lion King Suite!
When we arrived at the hotel after checking in online, I took a look at my room number and was immediately confused. Our room was not in the Little Mermaid section as I expected. I thought for sure that there had been some mistake, but to my surprise, we had received an upgrade!
I absolutely loved all the space in this room. Not only did we have a living room area, but a second bathroom as well. In addition to the master bedroom, there was a pull-out bed and a love seat that converted to a bed. If you are traveling with multiple people or several children, this would be a fantastic place to stay. The extra space was so nice!
I thoroughly enjoyed both of my stays at the Art of Animation. There are so many hotels at Walt Disney World that I like to visit, but for the price I paid, the accommodations, and the Skyliner access, this one has definitely moved onto my list of favorites.
