The last time we stayed at a Value resort the theming was too much for us and the beds were hard. You can imagine our surprise when Pop Century recently won us over as happily satisfied Guests! Here are 5 things we loved about Pop Century that will bring us back there in the future.
Peaceful grounds
This resort is a fabulous mix of Disney and all things pop culture, but it’s also beautiful! I got there early in the morning thanks to a red-eye flight and had some time to kill before my room was ready and my party could join me. I found a bench on the back side of the resort by the lake, and relaxed while watching the Skyliner buckets go by. This resort has an abundance of green spaces, as well as a path that goes completely around the lake for those that want to walk or run. I chose to sit and enjoy the quiet morning and I loved it!
Baggage service
All resorts offer baggage service, where they’ll hold your bags until your room is ready or until you are ready to check out and leave the resort. What I haven’t found at other resorts (including deluxe) is the offer of bringing our bags to our room once it’s ready, even though we’re off in the parks. What a wonderful surprise after a long day to find our things waiting for us in our room. The baggage staff was incredibly nice and seemed to be running very efficiently.
Clean and comfy rooms
The rooms themselves were classic and subtle in theme, quite spacious, and comfy! Gone are the hard beds of value resorts, at least at Pop! We slept incredibly well. Personally, I prefer the vinyl/hardwood flooring that many resorts are getting these days and I appreciated having it here. The room always feels a little cleaner to me with those floors versus carpet.
Merchandise and quick service selection
Everything Pop! at Disney’s Pop Century Resort offers a fun selection in their merchandise shops as well as ample choices and seating in the food court. The shop had a fun selection of things for all ages. It is spread out so it’s easy to move around and find what you’re looking for. We ate breakfast and dinner here and were pleased with the quality of the food. The seating felt spread out and roomy, even though there were lots of tables in there.
The Skyliner!
Last but not least, is the Skyliner. This mode of transportation is amazing. Pop Century shares their station with Art of Animation, but we never experienced a long line. You can access the transfer station at Caribbean Beach from this line, choosing to head towards Disney’s Hollywood Studios or to the Riviera and then Epcot. This is a quick way to get where you’re going, while enjoying a ride before you ever even enter a park. And if you book a Preferred Location room as we did, the Skyliner will be just steps outside your door.
