Shhh….I’ll let you in on a little secret…..it’s just between me and you, ok….The Wave at Disney’s Contemporary Resort has one of the best breakfast buffets in all of Walt Disney World!
The Wave, which is located on the first floor of the popular resort, can be found right next to the check in desk for the hotel. The restaurant definitely takes that contemporary feel to the max. The restaurant itself, almost feels a little generic, but trust me, it’s breakfast options are anything but. The Wave is very colorful, with lots of emphasis on wood colors and reds, but the palette really does run the gambit. Now, Guests won’t see the buffet when they walk in. Instead, it can be found at the back of the restaurant, in a back hallway.
Guests can choose to take advantage of the buffet, or they can choose to order al a carte. This is one of the last remaining restaurants that has these two options for Guests and it’s something that I love. Also nice is that for the most part, Guests who order the buffet can also choose to also order from many of the items found on the menu. So, for example, my husband wanted an omelet, which he ordered the way he wanted, even though it wasn’t something that could be found on the buffet line.
Guests can choose from many different delights on the buffet though. There are many traditional options, like eggs, yogurt, biscuits and gravy, cheesy hashbrowns, bacon, sausage, and fresh fruit. There’s also cereals and pastries. Oh and yes, for those looking for a Mickey waffle, you can get one here too! But there’s other things that make this restaurant’s breakfast special….like the key lime holandise, cheese and bacon grits, egg white frittatas, smoked salmon, deviled eggs with boursin and prosciutto, and my favorite….the sweet potato pancakes! Trust me when I say that everything is delicious and fresh. The Cast Members constantly replace items so they are piping hot.
The entire meal is a fantastic experience and I think, worth the stop, even if it’s out of your way.
