Packing for
Walt Disney World isn’t like packing for just any old trip. A Disney trip requires a little bit of packing magic. If you think ahead, the magic can start the moment you get on the plane. The fun can start with your carry on bag!
Here’s a list of must-packs items for your carry on bag.
Minnie ears
You know you need those babies for an in flight selfie. And also in the unlikely event that your luggage is lost, you won’t have to worry about not having your ears for your grand entrance to Walt Disney World property.
Earbuds
Flights to Orlando are always filled with excited kids and families. Enjoy the sky view and drown out the noise with a Disney playlist or Disney podcast. Disney playlists are available on on the major streaming services: Spotify, Pandora and Apple Music. For podcasts, I really like to listen to the
Be Our Guest Podcast. Make sure to download songs and episodes before you take off in case the plane doesn’t have WiFi, or if you’re cheap like me and don’t want to pay for the WiFi.
MagicBands
Similar to the Minnie ears, they make a great an addition to that in flight selfie. And, again, if your luggage gets misplaced, you want to have your
MagicBand in your carry on, just to be safe. You’ll need your MagicBand to get into your hotel and into the parks, if you’re staying on property.
Park maps
I like to bring old park maps with me on the plane. It gets me extra excited for my upcoming vacation. It’s fun to point out things you want to try. And if you don’t have old maps laying around, just take screenshots of the maps on your phone! Screenshots work just as well! Study them while you fly. You have nothing better to do than finalize your plan of attack for the most magical place on Earth.
Mobile phone charger
We know you’re probably going straight from the
Orlando International Airport to the
Magic Kingdom. So don’t let your phone battery drain on your way there. Charge it up while you fly! We’re all waiting for you to post that castle insta.
And don’t forget the super practical things …
Bring gum so your ears don’t pop during take off and landing. Maybe pack a few toiletries in case you want to freshen up before arrival. But no judgement if you don’t, as I’ve been known to hit up the Magic Kingdom with wet hair! What? It could be from Splash Mountain! And always make sure you carry your money and important documents with you. Don’t want them to get lost! And you’ll need them when you’re greeted by this sign as you arrive in Orlando!
