Two of my most favorite things in life are Tsum Tsum plush and the holiday season. So what better thing to do than unite my loves by making adorable Tsum Tsum pumpkins?!
Full disclosure: I got the idea to make Tsum Tsum pumpkins here. But I thought I’d try it out and let you guys know how it went.
I recruited my mom for help on this one because she’s a better painter than me and we love to do projects like these together. First of all, I’d like to warn you: Creating all five pumpkins took my mom and I about 8 hours. It was a lot bigger of a project than I anticipated. I’d recommend just trying one or two if you don’t have a ton of time to spare. Second, the most important part of the whole process is to let the paint dry. If you don’t, it will smudge and you’ll end up with flaky tie-dye pumpkins. Not cute. Third, when in doubt, look at the pictures. The pumpkins look complicated but really they’re just a few shapes.

Supplies:
- 1 small pumpkin
- red, black, white acrylic paint
- 2 toothpicks
- clear tape
- black cardstock paper
- large & small paintbrushes
- scissors
Steps:
1. Clean off your pumpkin with a wet paper towel.
2. Paint the back half of the pumpkin red. You may need two or three coats.
3. Draw the face shape using white. Each side is similar to a B shape. Connect them in the middle.
4. Fill in the space between the white and red with black to create his face. Paint the stem black as well.
5. While you wait for the paint to dry, cut out two circles and tape toothpicks to the back. We used cups to trace circles on the paper. You’ll stick these in his head for the ears.
6. Finally, paint on his eyes and nose using a small paintbrush. Remember it’s much easier to make them bigger, not smaller. So start with tiny shapes.

- large & small paintbrushes
- hole punch
- scissors

4. Fill in the space between the white and red with black to create her face. Paint the stem black as well.
5. While you wait for the paint to dry, cut out two circles and tape toothpicks to the back. You’ll stick these in her head for the ears.
6. Draw and cut out a bow on the red paper. Use the hole punch to create white dots for the point. Glue them on to create the polka dot look.
7 (optional). Paint white polka dots on the red half to give her skirt some extra style.
8. Finally, paint on her eyes and nose using a small paintbrush. And don’t forget her eyelashes!
I think a fun variation on this would be changing red to pink or purple or maybe blue. We all know Minnie has more than one outfit.
Donald Tsum Tsum pumpkin
Supplies:
- 1 small pumpkin
- blue, yellow, red, white, black acrylic paint
- 1 toothpick
- clear tape
- blue (aqua-ish) cardstock paper
- large & small paintbrushes
- black sharpie
- scissors
Steps:
1. Clean off your pumpkin with a wet paper towel.
2. Paint the back half blue. Paint the stem blue also.
3. Paint the front half white.
4. While you want for that to dry, draw Donald’s hat shape on the paper and cut it out. Draw a light black line at the bottom of the hat to give it some definition.
5. Tape a toothpick to the back and stick in at the top of his head.
6. His eyes are two black circles. Paint those using a small brush.
7. Add his red bow tie. We just free-handed this. It’s a circle in the middle with two wide triangles on each side.
8. Add his beak using the yellow. For this we just painted a long, thin rectangle with rounded edges.
Goofy Tsum Tsum pumpkin
Supplies:
- 1 small pumpkin
- orange, white, light tan, black acrylic paint
- 1 toothpick
- clear tape
- light green, black cardstock paper
- large & small paintbrushes
- black sharpie
- scissors
Steps:
1. Clean off your pumpkin with a wet paper towel.
2. Paint the back half orange.
3. Paint the face. Make a white space for the eyes and a tan space to act as his mouth.
4. Fill in the space between the orange and white/tan with black to create his face. Paint the stem black.
5. While you wait for that to dry, draw and cut out Goofy’s hat on the green paper. We just guessed on the shape. It really was pretty goofy. Draw a black line through the middle to give it some definition.
6. Tape a toothpick to the back and stick the hat a little off center above Goofy’s face.
7. Cut out his ears using the black paper. Fold the paper and cut them out at the same time so they’re symmetrical. Tape them on the sizes of his head.
8. Add his eyes and nose using black paint.
