Why do churros taste better in Disneyland?
I think it’s safe to say that millions of people are missing Disneyland right now. I’m sure there are people all around the world missing their favorite rides, attractions, shows and character meet-and-greets. But there’s one thing I’m missing more than any of that.
THE FOOD.
Here, in no particular order, are the Disneyland food choices I’m so looking forward to eating again!
ANYTHING AT FLO’S V8 CAFÉ
Okay, so this is more about the fantastic atmosphere in the Cars Land section of California Adventure than the actual food. But scooping through one of the thick shakes here (because they are WAY too thick to sip through a straw!), eating a fresh salad or nibbling on some seriously crispy fried chicken is so much fun. You can listen to Motown tunes (or Motortown, as Flo would tell you) while you sit inside in a replica of Doc’s office, or outside overlooking the Radiator Springs Racers as the cars whizz on by. Whichever you choose, you’ll feel as if you stepped right into the film Cars.
MICKEY SHAPED TREATS
Why is it that anything you eat tastes better when it’s themed towards our favorite mouse? There are many places throughout the resort to get Mickey-shaped treats, but my favorite place has got to be Marceline’s Confectionery in Downtown Disney.
THE MATTERHORN MACAROON
This Disneyland food option can be found at the Jolly Holiday Bakery Café. Offerings here are seasonal, so there’s always something new and flavorful to discover. But for flavor and theming, it’s hard to beat to that fantastic Matterhorn Macaroon. And extra points if you eat one with a view of the Matterhorn!
WOOD-FIRED PIZZA AT NAPLES
Naples Ristorante e Bar in Downtown Disney serves some of the best pizza I’ve had in Southern California. Even the aroma while it’s being brought to your table is heavenly. If the weather is nice (and it is often nice here!) I like to enjoy my pizza on the terrace, where I can enjoy a view of Downtown Disney while I eat. Many toppings are available, but my favorite is the traditional Margherita.
CHICKEN, APPLE AND WALNUT SALAD IN A BREAD BOWL
This delectable, hearty salad is served at the Pacific Wharf Café. Served in a freshly baked sourdough bread bowl, it’s a filling meal that’s perfect for a hot day. During peak meal times the seating area outside of the Café can be congested. However, we’ve had Cast Members encourage us to take our meals over to the seating area for the Mendocino Wine Terrace. Naturally this also encouraged us to order a glass of wine to go with our meal, but I digress…
DOLE WHIP
I mean, come on. Do we even have to have this conversation? If you know me, you know that I have a slightly alarming obsession with this light, cold, sweet treat. I’ve had these in the Magic Kingdom. I’ve had these at the Polynesian Village Resort,. I’ve had these in Animal Kingdom with a shot of rum. But my favorite place to have one is while hearing the birds all sing and the flowers croon inside the Enchanted Tiki Room. I am so looking forward to doing that again!
