It’s breakfast time at the Polynesian!
Fun fact about me: I love to eat eggs in almost every preparation. (Not hard-boiled. Ugh.) Another fun fact about me: I’m really not good at cooking them. So whenever I go on vacation, I take every opportunity I can to eat them!
Here are my favorite egg dishes at Walt Disney World:
QUICHE FLORENTINE – LES HALLES BOULANGERIE-PATISSERIE
Located in the beautiful France pavilion in Epcot’s World Showcase, Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie has been a favorite among park goers for decades because of their glorious pastries. But don’t overlook their hot entrees! Their Quiche Florentine, with spinach and goat cheese, is delicious. Grab one of these and maybe an éclair for dessert and live la vie Parisienne!
VEGETABLE QUICHE – BE OUR GUEST
Be Our Guest is famous for recreating the Beast’s Castle right in the heart of the Magic Kingdom, in the Enchanted Forest section of Fantasyland. I’ve gotten the vegetable quiche twice and can’t wait for a third! It’s loaded with mushrooms, zucchini and other veggies, and sits on a delicate triangle of puff pastry. It’s served with a green salad so there’s no excuse for not eating your veggies!
EGG WHITE SCRAMBLE – CAPTAIN COOK’S
Most people who head to Captain Cook’s, the quick service location at the Polynesian Village Resort, rave about the Tonga Toast. While I love that breakfast, some days I’m not in the mood for a sugar rush first thing in the morning. There are lots of egg options here, and the current menu offers a platter with scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage; a flatbread topped with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage and cheese; an egg, bacon and cheese sandwich on a croissant; and an egg, potato, bacon and cheese burrito.
But on a recent trip all that seemed too heavy for me, so I ordered something from the kids menu: egg whites scrambled with cheddar cheese and turkey bacon, served with plain yogurt and pineapple chunks. It was the perfect size to get me charged for the day without weighing me down.
BREAKFAST PLATTER – SUNSHINE SEASONS
This quick service restaurant in the Land pavilion in Epcot’s Future World is always a good place to take families with different tastes, since there is such a wide variety of food here. At breakfast time it’s hard to pass up the breakfast platter. While you’ll find everything you’d expect on this platter (scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage and breakfast potatoes) you’ll also get something unusual and delicious: cinnamon French toast bread pudding! This is a perfect morning meal for someone who likes to have a little dessert on the plate for breakfast!
