Gotta get that photo with Mickey and Minnie!
For some families, a Walt Disney World trip is a once-in-a-lifetime vacation. But for other families, Walt Disney World becomes a second home, a place they visit again and again. One of the best ways to commemorate returns trips to Walt Disney World is to take photos of your growing family in the same location for each trip. This way, you and your family can compare the photos and realize how much everyone has changed. Now that the Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary is on our doorstep, let’s celebrate the resort and share some favorite family photo traditions that we’ve had. Maybe they’ll give you that spark of inspiration that Figment talks about and you start a new tradition with your family!
Family photo in front of Cinderella Castle
Many families do this in front of the big park icons, Cinderella Castle being a very popular spot to do just that. But I’d like to suggest some more ideas that you might not have considered before.
POSE WITH THE SAME FOOD ITEM
Is there something your family absolutely has to eat on each trip? For me, it’s a favorite Disney snack that is spelled Dole Whip and pronounced Dole Whip. (Yes, I have a Dole Whip obsession.) Maybe your kids have to eat an enormous helping of French fries on each trip, or your trip wouldn’t be complete without a Mickey ice cream bar. Have your family pose with their favorite Disney snack!
POSE WITH THE SAME CHARACTER
For this one, you’ll want to pick a character who will most likely be around year after year. For example, I loved posting with Star-Lord and Baby Groot, but they are likely to show up only when a Guardians of The Galaxy film is coming out. Personally, I would stick with characters like the Fab Five (Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Pluto) for this one, or perhaps even Chip and Dale. You could also consider a favorite Disney Princess!
IN FRONT OF A HOLIDAY DISPLAY
Does your family always attend Mickey’s No-So-Scary Halloween Party? Or do you always visit in December? If so, pose for your family photo in front of a huge Mickey Jack-o-Lantern or a festive Christmas tree in one of the parks or resorts! Bonus points if you use that Christmas tree shot for your Christmas cards!
AFTER GETTING YOUR FACES PAINTED
If your kids love to get their faces painted, you can take a fun photo of them right afterwards when the face paint is still looking perfect! They might want to change it up from year to year or keep going back for the same design.
BELLE’S GROWTH CHART INSIDE ENCHANTED TALES WITH BELLE
Hopefully this attraction returns soon at Walt Disney World! This attraction is one of the most original and fun meet-and-greets Disney has ever come up with. In one of the waiting areas, the one representing the cottage where Belle grew up, you can find this sweet growth chart written on the wall. Why not take a photo of your kids against this growth chart year after year? This way you can see how they compared to Belle at different stages in their lives!
