Did you know that November 3rd was National Sandwich Day in the United States? I didn’t, either, but when my daughter saw it on her National Days Calendar and told me about it, I do what I often do: I started thinking about Disneyland. Specifically, where I would go to enjoy a sandwich at Disneyland! Here are my favorites:
THE EARL OF SANDWICH
No surprise here! Located in Downtown Disney near the monorail station that will whisk you into Disneyland Park, the Earl serves up several different types of sandwiches for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and also some hearty salads. My personal favorite is the Caprese Salad, with fresh tomato, creamy mozzarella, and bright basil. Since it’s so close to the monorail station, this is a great place to eat when you’re enjoying Downtown Disney or you want to escape the hustle and bustle of Disneyland Park for a quick meal.
BLUE BAYOU
I especially love to head to the Blue Bayou on a hot day for lunch, because escaping the bright sunlight and heat for the air conditioned comfort of a perpetually moonlit night is so relaxing. There’s another great reason to visit here at lunch that has nothing to do with watching the Pirates of the Caribbean boats glide by. Lunch is the only time you can get the Monte Cristo sandwich! This turkey, ham and Swiss cheese sandwich is deep fried and served with a fresh fruit skewer. Absolutely delicious – and if you think it’s too decadent, just think about all the steps you took while exploring the theme park!
FLO’S V8 CAFÉ
This fast-food spot in Cars Land gives you a chance to feel like you’ve stepped into the Cars films. And while you’re at it, you’ve got to eat, right? My pick is a sandwich that at first glance sounds ordinary. Ramone’s Low and Slow Club is turkey, bacon, lettuce and tomato served with thick French fries. Sounds like something you can get at any old place, right? But it’s the magical condiment that makes it special. Avocado-bacon mayo! I had no idea a condiment could elevate a sandwich so much, but it is absolutely irresistible!
GCH CRAFTSMAN GRILL
I love the California craftsman style architecture of the Grand Californian, and try to visit this resort as often as I can. Recently they opened this new quick service location. I highly recommend the Chicken Curry Sandwich. Served on a croissant, the curried chicken salad is light and refreshing and still filling enough to make a great lunch.
