By Erica Colmenares As a nuclear family, we came relatively late to the Disney vacation game. Our son, Max, was seven before he first set foot on Disney property. But since then, he’s made up for lost time, and has grown up with Disney. He’s experienced the birth of attractions, and experienced offerings that are…

Why Disney?
By Jane Jones
"Why Disney?"
This is a question I am asked often by family and friends alike. Well, those who really know my family have stopped asking. We’re now just the people they send their friends to for the answer to the question "Why Disney?"
"Why Disney?" Simply stated, it is the best overall value in service, experience, and just plain fun for the entire family. While there are still many things we have yet to do that Disney offers, we have done quite a lot. Our family has visited Disneyland and Walt Disney World more times than we can count and have stayed at most of the Disney resorts in the USA. We’ve done 3-, 4-, and 7-night cruises in the Caribbean.
We’ve cruised the Mediterranean and the Baltic Seas with Disney. We’re Disney Vacation Club members. Hmm…you’re probably wondering if we’ve even tried any other vacation options, and yes we have. They don’t compare. Our family is invested heart and soul into Disney vacationing….but WHY?
Let me give you some concrete examples.
Leaving Property
By Carol Garcia When staying at Walt Disney World, it’s quite easy to stay on-property for an entire trip and live in the “Disney bubble.” Unlike Disneyland, which is surrounded by reality on all sides, Disney World is just apart from the real world enough to make it easily avoided on a vacation. But central…
TheMouseForLess Blog
By Erica Colmenares Blogging is where it’s at these days. Even my son has a blog (topic: video games; surprised?). My preference runs more towards Disney blogs (again, surprised?). I especially enjoy the guest blogs from members at TheMouseForLess.com. These blog entries are not the direct scoop from the Mouse himself. Rather, they are what…
Pixie Dust Between Trips – 09/23/2010
By Kristi Letsinger I often find myself longing for the sights and sounds of Disney. It doesn’t seem to matter if we have just returned from a trip or are getting ready to leave for one, there are days that I just need some instant “magic,” if only for a little while. My children seem…
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter
By Carol Garcia With the opening of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Universal Studios is banking on the fact that there are many like me who will come to their parks and hotels just for that reason. Just to avoid confusion, let me start of by saying that, yes, I do know that The…
In Search of a Studios Restaurant
By Kristi Letsinger One of the joys of visiting Walt Disney World is the opportunity to eat at different restaurants and sample different foods. We have had some great meals and some not so great meals over our years of visiting the parks. We usually enjoy eating at the parks and have found a favorite…
DHS Counter-Service Survey
We asked the travel agents at The Magic for Less Travel for their opinions on the counter service eateries at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. We also asked them to share their favorite menu items at any of the DHS counter service locations. Here’s what we learned. The pick for best counter service location was Starring Rolls…
A Taste of Germany
Compiled By Lindsey Tullier When the time to make Advanced Dining Reservations (ADRs) for our past Mother’s Day trip to Walt Disney World was rapidly approaching, I knew I wanted to try something new. This task is becoming increasingly difficult since we have sampled so many WDW menus. I recalled a restaurant that I had…
Mickey’s Jingle Jungle Parade at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Compiled By Lindsey Tullier One of my family’s favorite parades at Walt Disney World is Mickey’s Jammin’ Jungle Parade at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. For the Christmas season, it is magically transformed into Mickey’s Jingle Jungle Parade. What’s a Disney parade without beloved characters wandering around, interacting with guests? Here, some of our favorite Disney “critters”…
Trip Insurance: Cruise Lines
By Mic Anderson Welcome to the third installment of my insurance primer. In this final installment, we’re going to explore insurance on cruises, focusing on Disney Cruise Line and their policies. Again, please remember I’m not an insurance agent in any shape or form, nor have I played one on TV. This is coming from…
Summer Nightastic!
By Kristi Letsinger We just returned from a very busy two week trip to Walt Disney World. Originally, the plan was for a short trip, but with the announcement that the Main Street Electrical Parade and the new Summer Nightastic! Fireworks Spectacular would begin on June 6, we decided to extend our trip. We are…
