Hollywood and Vine is, in my opinion, one of the more underrated character dinners on property. It tends to get a bad rep for mediocre food, which may be true to an extent, but as someone who does not have an adventurous palate, I loved the food at Hollywood and Vine!
At this table service restaurant, you will get whisked away to a 50s style diner that you may have found in old Hollywood, right in the heart of the lights, camera & action. The atmosphere of this place really fits in at Disney’s Hollywood Studios!
The first reason I love dining here is because it is one of the restaurants that has the option for a Fantasmic! VIP dining package. In simple terms, for about the same price of a normal meal there, you can book this package & get a VIP voucher at the end of your meal so you don’t have to wait in line for good viewing of this amazing show! It’s an awesome perk & a must do for me every trip.
While the buffet does not have a major selection, it does have the typical buffet foods, like pasta, chicken, vegetables, soup & meat carving stations. The kids buffet (which I also tend to eat from) has macaroni & cheese, corn dog nuggets & more. I actually really particularly loved the meat from the carving station. I had ham & roast beef. The pasta was also delicious too!
The character interaction here seemed a bit rushed, in comparison to a place like Tusker House. However, I love that during the afternoon and evening, you can meet the fab five (Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy & Goofy) in seasonal outfits. You can partake in Minnie’s Springtime Dine, Minnie’s Summertime Dine, Minnie’s Halloween Dine & Minnie’s Holiday Dine, which is super fun!! We did the Springtime Dine, and they were all dressed in their finest springtime wear! We’ve got the Halloween Dine booked for this coming fall, and we can’t wait! For breakfast, you will dine with Disney Jr. characters, instead of the fab five. I’ve heard great things about their interaction at breakfast, as well!
When you leave, you get a Memory Maker photo as you exit with a character & a backdrop set up. I believe it is typically Minnie, however when we went, it was Daisy doing the photos. So keep in mind that your “main” photo character can change.
All in all-I do love the Hollywood and Vine dinner! Definitely a great option for any character lover & if you want to keep things simple for semi-picky eaters, like myself.
