If you ever dreamed of dining with Captain America, then check out Universal Orlando’s Marvel Character Dinner at Cafe 4 at Islands of Adventure. Together with Seth Kubersky, the coauthor of The Unofficial Guide to Universal Orlando, I recently experienced the dinner and enjoyed the interaction with the Marvel characters even though we had no kids in tow.
Marvel superheroes, including Captain America, Spider-Man, Wolverine, Cyclops, Storm, and Rogue, made their rounds to all the tables as soon as the venue opened. Visiting individually with each table, the interaction with guests was fabulous. Every superhero was perfectly in character, and we were impressed at the amount of time they interacted with us grown-ups!
The Eats
The all-you-can-eat buffet included several salads, three pasta dishes, and four different specialty pizzas. Roasted rosemary lemon chicken, chicken scaloppini, and shrimp scampi rounded up the main course offerings. An assortment of dessert and nonalcoholic drinks were also included in the meal.
My favorite dish was the shrimp scampi, while Seth enjoyed the chicken scaloppini best. We both agreed that the small desserts were tops, especially the amazing orange macarons.
The food is simple but good. There was something for every taste and there was plenty. Even fussy eaters will be happy here. The buffet was kept clean, and fresh food was added constantly. I would like Cafe 4 to be transformed a little more from its daytime look, but I noted happily that plates and cutlery were not made from plastic.
