Have you ever gone on a Hidden Mickey hunt? It’s such a fun thing to do while you wait in line, or wait for your dining reservation, or even wait for your hotel room to be ready!
If you’ve never heard of a Hidden Mickey, you might not know what to look for. After all, there are many blatant Mickey shapes sprinkled throughout Disneyland and Walt Disney World, and you can’t say that every one is a Hidden Mickey. Simply put, a Hidden Mickey is a design element that has been snuck into the décor somewhere.
I thought I’d share with you my favorite Hidden Mickeys.
PARADISE PIER HOTEL – DISNEYLAND RESORT
I don’t know how Imagineers got so good at hiding Hidden Mickeys in carpet, but they manage to do it again and again! At the Paradise Pier Hotel, take a look at the carpet in the corridors throughout the guest wings. You’ll find subtle Mickey heads swirled in with the design. While you’re at it, keep your eyes open in all the public areas of the hotel, including the lobby, restaurants, and pool deck. You’ll be surprised what you can find!
GRAND CALIFORNIAN HOTEL – DISNEYLAND RESORT
Not to be outdone, the Grand Californian’s carpet also has subtle Mickey heads hidden in the arts-and-crafts style décor of the carpet. These are perhaps the trickiest to find because of the muted colors that are prevalent throughout the resort.
And if you look closely, you’ll notice that Mickey isn’t the only character hidden there….
There is another Hidden Mickey in the signage right outside the Disneyland Drive entrance to the hotel. It’s very well hidden and will be difficult to see if you’re driving past. You’ll have to get up pretty close to spot it!
POLYNESIAN VILLAGE RESORT – WALT DISNEY WORLD
The next time you’re in the lobby of my favorite Walt Disney World Resort, check out the stonework. You’ll find this gorgeous Hidden Mickey, one of the largest in all of Walt Disney World! But its size doesn’t necessarily make it easy to find because of the color scheme. This might be the biggest, but there are many other subtle ones throughout the lobby!
LIVING WITH THE LAND – WALT DISNEY WORLD
There are many hidden Mickeys sprinkled throughout this boat ride, and since much of this attraction is agriculture, these change from time to time. But on a recent trip we caught this red lettuce Mickey head! The agricultural engineers who work here are constantly coming up with different ways to grow produce in a Mickey design. See what they’ve done on your next trip!
