One of the best things to do when visiting the Walt Disney World Resort is to stop and enjoy the various lounges that can be found all around the resort. Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort has a really fun one that you are likely missing!
Banana Cabana is a Caribbean-inspired haven. The open air establishment has lots of seating around the bar, however there are also tables with comfy chairs, as well as a high top table that can seat larger parties. One of my favorite parts of this restaurant is the light fixture that utilizes steel drums. It fits in with the theme perfectly!
Guests mostly stop here for a quick beverage, but this lounge, which is located right next to Sebastian’s Bistro, also offers a wide variety of food options. Items include salads and sandwiches, however we were here for a light snack, which meant we focused on the appetizer menu.
We got the Jerk Chicken Wings which are served with Pickled Vegetable Ribbons and Cilantro-Lime Crema. These are the exact same wings that can be found next door at Sebastian’s. They are coated nicely with that sauce that his just a little kick. There aren’t a large number of wings served, but for an appetizer, there’s certain enough for people to be able to get a taste of these.
Let’s move on to the big miss though….which definitely disappointed me.
We also got the Chile Con Queso which features Skirt Steak Chili, Pimento Cheese, Pico de Gallo, and Fried Tortillas. While it sounds delicious, it was really not chile con queso….more chile with a small amount of queso. I was expecting a much different and thicker consistency, one that worked better with dipping chips on. This was extremely runny and didn’t work well with the chip option at all. The dip did taste good, and it would work better as maybe a chili option, with a spoon, but overall, it was a big old miss as a dip.
I still think that Banana Cabana is an extremely pleasant place to stop and grab a beverage and maybe a small bite. Due to it’s location of being so close to the Disney Skyliner….just a hop, skip, and jump away from both Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, I would absolutely consider it as an option.
