There are so many character meals at Walt Disney World, it can be hard to decide where you want to go! If you are a princess lover, or have one in your party, I highly suggest checking out the Bon Voyage Breakfast at Trattoria Al Forno on Disney’s Boardwalk!
This is a great one to do on an Epcot day. Grab breakfast & head over to the International Gateway entrance of the park! It’s also great for an off park day, where you’re just resort hopping. I absolutely LOVE the boardwalk and could easily spend a morning, afternoon or evening there just walking around & snacking at my favorite spots.
I love this character meal for two reasons. First of all, the character interaction is absolutely phenomenal. One of the best in my opinion! Second of all, the food is delicious, and you get more than the typical “Disney breakfast”. Trattoria al Forno is an Italian restaurant that serves all meals, but only the breakfast has the characters.
During breakfast, you’ll get to dine with Ariel, Prince Eric, Rapunzel & Flynn Ryder-some of my favorites! I love this meal, because meeting the Disney princes is pretty rare, especially for character meals. Since there’s only 4 of characters, I find they are able to really take their time with each guest & give a quality experience.
Ariel & Eric come out together, while they discuss the joys of the ocean! I am a big fan of unique autograph ideas, so I got Ariel & Eric to sign a big dinglehopper (better known as a fork) & when I got home, I mounted it to make it pop! Then, Rapunzel & Flynn Ryder came around where they shared stories, jokes & Flynn helped us master our ‘smolder’ look. For them, I had them sign a cast iron frying pan, which they got a great kick out of! For more information on how I did these autographs, check out my article!
Now let’s talk food! Even if you are not a character or princess lover, this meal is great because of the FOOD. Since it’s an Italian inspired breakfast, I did find it a bit heavy for early in the morning, but it was delicious! Typical Disney character breakfasts have the same kinds of foods (eggs, fruit, mickey waffles, etc.) but this one was very unique!
Our meal started out with a cast iron pan full of delicious pastries, which was actually my favorite part. There was enough for our whole table to have 2 each & take some in our park bag for park snacks! Onto our entrees-my sister had the stack of pancakes, while I had King Triton’s Shipwreck Al Forno. That was basically a calzone filled with breakfast meats, sauce & cheese. It was served with a cute little triton for authenticity! My sister also loved her pancakes, and my whole family loved the meal! My mom also had the calzone, and my stepdad had Flynn’s Feast.
After our meal, we explored the boardwalk & enjoyed the early morning sun, before we headed over to Epcot. We got pictures in the photobooth on the boardwalk, and had lots of photo ops along the way.
All in all-one of the best breakfasts I have had on property! I suggest it for all princess & Italian lovers alike!
