Universal Orlando Resort’s CityWalk is known for having some spectacular restaurants. From Cowfish to Toothsome to NBC Sports Grill and Brew, there are choices that abound. But one thing that’s not quite as prevalent are the number of quick service options. However, on a recent trip, stopping at a counter service dining establishment was all I had time for. Luckily, I knew just the place I wanted to try.
The Hot Dog Hall of Fame is themed after America’s favorite pastime (no…not Netflixing)….baseball! Here Guests can choose to order hot dogs that are themed after iconic baseball stadiums around the U.S. The restaurant is also known for having seats from former stadiums where you can choose to enjoy your hot dog. (There are also tables available, if you don’t want to eat in a stadium seat.)
The one thing that surprised me about the Hot Dog Hall of Fame was that there was no indoor portion – at all. Which by the way, was super fun in the middle of a hot summer afternoon. Despite that, we found a spot with shade and it wasn’t so bad.
Alright….let’s get to the hot dogs! That is the main event! They have the option to get hot dogs themed after different teams OR you can choose to kind of create your own. We opted to go for the creations that they had already ready to go.
The first is the Chicago. This is what most people think of when they think about ballpark hot dogs typically. It’s an all-beef dog, poppy-seed bun, neon relish, sport peppers, diced onions, tomatoes, celery salt.
Next, we have the Colorado, which is served with grilled peppers & onions, sauerkraut. Pretty standard ballpark hot dog fare.
My choice was the Detroit, which is Abbott’s Coney chili, diced onions and I added shredded cheddar cheese….because you have to have cheese with a chili dog!
All three hot dogs were quite delicious! Each was served with french fries which were the kinds with the skins on them. Again, quite delicious.
The meal was exactly what the doctor ordered.
