- Spice Road Table, the new tapas restaurant in the Morocco Pavilion at Epcot opened this week. It serves small bites like Cod Croquettes, Fried Calamari, and Spicy Shrimp. The restaurant has seating both indoors and outdoors with views of Illuminations each night.
- FastPass+ testing for both onsite, as well as off-site guests, will begin taking place at the Magic Kingdom. This test will begin on January 14. It will be similar to the test that’s currently taking place at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. For off-site guests who wish to make FastPass+ reservations, they may do so via the MyMagic+ kiosks that will be found throughout the park. (They will not be able to make reservations via the My Disney Experience app at this time. Resort guests will continue to be able to use the full My Disney Experience to book FastPass+ choices in advance at all four parks. Legacy FASTPASS will cease to exist at the Magic Kingdom, but off-site guests will still be able to obtain Legacy FASTPASS tickets at both Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. (The other two parks are expected to get rid of Legacy FASTPASS by the end of the month.)
- Avatarland has officially broken ground this week. The land is expected to be finished by 2017 at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in the former location of Camp Minnie-Mickey.
Are they trying to do away the Mouse??? Does Disney management realize how many little kids watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse??? they want to see Mickey and Minnie’s houses……………gone, gone gone!!!! now they are doing away with Camp Mickey Minnie. Remember the magic Haha. It all started with a Mouse-remember!!!!!
Well, to be truthful…Mickey and Minnie’s official houses were always at Disneyland, the ones at the Magic Kingdom were supposed to be their vacation houses. But I get what you’re saying.
They have added a meet a greet with Mickey and Minnie in Animal Kingdom though. It’s called Adventurers Outpost. I just met the two there this past trip and it was a lovely spot to meet. Plus…air conditioned! And they are still dressed in their safari gear!
There are lots of places to meet Mickey and Minnie though. Disney wouldn’t haven’t taken that away from guests. At the Magic Kingdom, there is Town Square Theater, where Mickey does talk with guests. And in Storybook Circus, guests can meet Mystique Minnie, themed around the circus. At Epcot, there’s the Epcot Character Spot, where you get Mickey, Minnie, and Goofy all in a row. Then at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, you can meet Sorcerer Mickey at the Magic of Disney Animation area, as well as a brand new Minnie meet and greet that’s currently not labeled, but I promise, she is there. (I met her there recently too.)
So, I do get where you’re coming from, that it seems like Mickey and Minnie keep getting displaced, but at least they are finding new homes, so guests will still have the opportunity to meet with the most famous mice in the world.
