- Muppet*Vision 3D at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be closed for refurbishment from August 15-22.
- Guests can now create their own Lightsaber at Mouse Gear in Epcot
- From August 7-31, Disney PhotoPass Service will offer a character experience at the Magic Kingdom for Guests who have purchased Memory Maker, Memory Maker One Day or have an Annual Pass with Memory Maker included. Guests will be able to meet Belle in her formal gown at Heritage House in Liberty Square. Only one Guests will need a Memory Maker entitlement for their entire party.
- Beginning August 12, for a limited time, “Princess Elena Royal Welcome” will be presented several times daily on the Cinderella Castle Forecourt Stage at the Magic Kingdom. During the ceremony, Cinderella and Prince Charming will introduce their special guest from Avalor. With great fanfare, Princess Elena will arrive accompanied by a contingent of regal banner carriers and musicians.
- Guests who visit Rafiki’s Planet Watch can stop by the “Pete’s Dragon” activity table in front of Conservation Station this week to learn more about national parks and pick up a “Pete’s Dragon” activity guide developed by Disney’s Animals, Science and Environment and a movie button. Guests can also participate in a puzzle game about the national parks in each of the 50 states.
- Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon will be adding a new family-friendly water attraction called Miss Fortune Falls which is expected to open in spring 2017. Located near Crush ‘n’ Gusher, Miss Fortune Falls brings to life the story of Captain Mary Oceaneer, a treasure-hunting heroine who got stranded at the water park years ago by a rogue storm. Once aboard their rafts, Guests will embark on a journey through Captain Oceaneer’s past before plunging into a white-water adventure where Guests can see unique artifacts that Captain Mary Oceaneer collected on her many treasure hunts around the world. With a ride time of two minutes, Miss Fortune Falls will be the longest attraction at any Disney water park.
- As part of the grand opening celebration of Disney Springs, the shopping and dining district is hosting “Art in August,” a vibrant, open-air art stroll that celebrates the diversity of art. Throughout the month in the Marketplace section, “Art in August” will showcase local and Disney artists specializing in a variety of art styles including painting, photography, home crafts, jewelry and unique keepsakes. In addition, Guests may participate in interactive demonstrations on the promenade such as chalk drawing, as well as meet the artists behind the Disney magic.
- Blaze Pizza is now open in the Town Center section of Disney Springs. This pizza restaurant is known for artisanal pizzas that are fast fire’d in 180 seconds.
- Origins, a high-performance skincare store is now open in Town Center. Origins offers bath and body, hair, makeup, and other beauty products.
- Four new restaurants have been added to Tables in Wonderland. Members will receive the 20 percent discount at the following: Skipper Canteen at the Magic Kingdom, Tiffins and the Nomad Lounge at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and Jock Lindsay’s Hangar Bar at Disney Springs. Tables in Wonderland is an exclusive program for Disney Vacation Members and Annual Passholders. Membership in Tables in Wonderland includes a 20 percent discount on all food & beverage at participating Walt Disney World table-service restaurants and lounges, as well as complimentary valet parking when dining at these restaurants.
