I’ve been taking Walt Disney World (and now, Disneyland) vacations for over 20 years, and I can definitely say that my packing technique has improved tremendously over time! Though too young to remember, I’ve heard the stories of my family of 3 bringing 8 suitcases on our first Disney trip (back in the days where checking luggage was free!). Now, I’ve refined my packing technique, and can easily fit everything I need into 1 carry-on (I prefer a duffel bag, since I’m traveling from New York City, and don’t like pulling a rolling bag behind me in people-traffic) and 1 personal item.
My many trips to WDW have helped me to formulate the ultimate Disney packing list! In my opinion, less is more. I usually don’t wear most of the items I pack if I go crazy with options, so I try to think of one outfit per day to help keep my bag light! I also look at the weather forecast ahead of time and adjust my list accordingly. If it’s going to be chilly? More pants, less shorts. If it’s going to rain? Weather-appropriate footwear! And, of course, I recommend adjusting for your family’s needs. If you have little ones, packing activities to keep them busy at the airport, and lots of snacks! Another little tip I have: Remember to leave a little space in your luggage for souvenirs! I always end up coming home with a little something, and want to make sure it fits in my bag!
I take multiple trips to Walt Disney World every year, and this packing list has never failed me! I hope it helps you to prepare for your Disney vacation!
