Welcome to Sprinkles!
Over spring break, I took my daughter to Downtown Disney in Disneyland so that we could do the Eggstravaganza egg hunt. All that egg hunting got us hungry, so after a nice, relaxing picnic in the picnic area, we decided to treat ourselves to a delicious dessert.
I had heard so much about the cupcake shop Sprinkles, but I’d never actually tasted their wares. So we headed over to this small, sweet shop to get some cupcakes! Sprinkles is, of course, famous for these cupcakes. (Sprinkles’ founder is a regular judge on the television reality show Cupcake Wars.)
The interior of this shop is small, but it was not crowded. In addition to the display case proudly displaying the array of cupcakes, there were also cookies and brownies for sale. Nearby, you could purchase a Sprinkles cookbook. A small selection of beverages were also on sale.
Sugar-free Red Velvet Cupcake and Easter Fancy Sprinkles Cupcake
Although the cookies and brownies looked good, it seemed weird to not buy cupcakes from a cupcake shop! My daughter chose to try the colorful Easter Fancy Sprinkle cupcake. I picked the Sugar-free Red Velvet cupcake.
The ordering process at this shop is automated. A friendly cast member directed us to the touch-screen ordering station and assured us that she was available in case we had any problems. Our two cupcakes came to $12.50.
Sugar-free Red Velvet Cupcake
We took our cupcakes, packed safely in a box, to a nearby bench. The Sugar-free Red Velvet was delicious. The cake was moist and not too sweet. The thick cream cheese icing complemented the cupcake beautifully. There was a large candy “S” on top because this cupcake was sugar-free. (The gluten-free cupcakes were similarly adorned with a “G.”). This was edible, but it was the only thing about the cupcake I didn’t like. I recommend you take this off and toss it.
Easter Fancy Sprinkles Cupcake
My daughter says that her cupcake tasted like a birthday cake. Indeed, when she bit into it, the interior of the cupcake looked like a Funfetti cake. The frosting was vanilla buttercream and the entire cupcake was then given a generous helping of pastel, spring-colored sprinkles.
Inside the Easter Cupcake
We both thoroughly enjoyed our cupcakes and agreed that it was a very good value for the price. This location offers seasonal flavors, so I’m curious to see what they will offer during the fall months and Christmastime!
One thing is for sure: Now that I’ve tried Sprinkles, I will definitely be back! There are so many more cupcakes to sample!
