Guardians of the Galaxy:  Cosmic Rewind Details

Guardians of the Galaxy:  Cosmic Rewind is a roller coaster ride located in EPCOT.  This new Marvel-based roller coaster is one of the longest indoor launch coasters ever built, with the building itself being more than 12 stories tall.  This roller coaster will feature the first reverse launch on a Disney coaster.  The cars will have the ability to rotate to focus on themed scenes as a “storytelling coaster”.  The story begins with chaos breaking out at the Nova Corps outpost on Earth, as the officers, and eventually Spaceship Earth itself, begin to “rewind” and disappear. The SOS from Nova Corps is picked up by the Guardians of the Galaxy, who answer the call by putting their ship into high gear en route to EPCOT.

Guardians of the Galaxy Galaxarium

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind queues in the “Galaxarium”, an observatory of the entire galaxy where your adventure starts.  The top of the ceiling is a video screen much like the one in Space 220, letting you look out into space like you would in a planetarium.  The attraction queue winds inside the room through the middle.  The loading is similar to the one in Web Slingers:  A Spider-Man Adventure at Disney California Adventure.  There are four riders to each Starjumper vehicle to take off with the Guardians of the Galaxy on a race through time and space.  Each ride vehicle can spin in different directions throughout the ride, which will enhance the storytelling and help you see the show elements more clearly.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Fun Facts

Did you know?

  • The attraction replaced the Ellen’s Energy Adventure, which debuted in 1996 and was the story of a nightmare of Ellen DeGeneres who was on Jeopardy and went back in time to the age of the dinosaurs with her friend Bill Nye, the Science Guy. Before that, the attraction was called Universe of Energy and was an original attraction for EPCOT. It explored the world of energy through four large-format film presentations and a slow-moving dark ride through a jungle diorama filled with audio-animatronic dinosaurs.
  • This family-thrill attraction features the first ever reverse-launch on a Disney coaster and is one of the largest fully-enclosed coasters in the world! An innovation from Walt Disney Imagineering—this coaster rotates 360 degrees so you can focus on the action!
  • Begin your adventure by touring the Galaxarium—a planetarium-like exhibition showcasing the similarities and differences between Xandar and Earth’s galaxies. You’ll even get to discover some of the incredible wonders of Xandar and learn about their technology.
  • You may spot some of your favorite characters from the Guardians of the Galaxy throughout the entire attraction.
  • This attraction features one of six classic songs. They are:
    • “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” by Tears for Fears
    • “Conga” by Gloria Estefan
    • “I Ran (So Far Away)” by a Flock of Seagulls
    • “Disco Inferno” by Earth, Wind & Fire
    • “One Way or Another” by Blondie
